citrus bliss

today's theme at the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art is citrus.

i remembered i had some cool citrus background paper from the summer picnic paper pack by gecko galz so i used that as a base, stamped around the edges with a stamp by stampendous then used additional images from the gecko galz tattoo summer digital kit and a butterfly also from gecko galz (can't recall which sheet or kit). the word is from  retired tumblefish studios kit.

now for today's ICAD, the theme today for the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art is "emerald." i wasn't feeling the prompt though. so other than creating an emerald-colored background with spritzed watercolor inks, i actually just made another composite person.

this one is cut and paste collage style with images from tumblefish studios, itKuPiLLi and a butterfly from gecko galz.

ICAD the call of the sea; 2 birthday cards

the theme today for the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art is "anchor," and so here is my "call of the sea" card.

i've used a piece of a real map, a compass rubber stamp from leavenworth jackson, and mermaid and anchor from gecko galz collage sheets (sea nymphs and nautical). there's a faint bit of stamping from a meer image (retired company) waves stamp as well.

for ICAD #21, geode, (the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art),  this one inspired me to write a story.

In 1928, not-yet famed geologist Giancarlo Monfrerer went digging in the caves of Flamorvia and happened upon his most significant find, a geode so stunningly blue that he could only think of his late wife Beatrix Gertrudis, his one and only love, symbolized by the blue butterfly he imagined to always be flying above him. He named the geode Beatrix’ Blue Butterfly and this find, this marvelous find, is the one thing that finally got him in the great geology tomes of his home country Lemuroritana. If you ever visit Lemuroritana, you will find this bright and shiny gem, encased in glass in the Montfrerer Museum, along with other amazing gems uncovered later by the great Giancarlo. Founded by Ginacarlo’s loving nieces and nephews, the museum was a way to remember their beloved aunt and uncle, both who died too young, while so full of sparkle; may they rest in peace.

mustard yellow, ICAD 17

the theme today for the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art is "mustard yellow." i attempted to create the color i wanted using acrylic paint colors raw sienna and hansa yellow. i should have used more of the yellow. i swirled with my paintbrush a bit for more texture.

the rest is rubber stamping with stamps from hero arts (sun), 100 proof press (quote) and studios blackbird (dots).

i'm on day 15 of the index card a day challenge (ICAD) hosted by daisy yellow art.  the theme today is "dandelion" and my depiction is focused on "wish" which is what many like to do with a dandelion.

i used spritzed watercolor inks for the background, rubber stamps, and 2 images from gecko galz, a girl from the dream girls 2 sheet and a butterfly from a different sheet.

but hopefully the sentiment comes through.

here's today's piece for the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art. theme today is "brocade" and i had a wonderful intention -- i was going to create a brocade-like background using acrylic paints and stencils. my attempts with more ornate stencils ended up being blurry and messy. so while i like what i ended up with, it wasn't the brocade-like background i had in mind....

are you familiar with a "suzani pattern"? i was not, it is a geometric pattern originating out of central asian countries such as tajikistan, uzbekistan, etc. suzani pattern is the theme today for the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art. 

my creation isn't exactly a suzani pattern but it is a pattern and i did enjoy doing it.

do not mess with my love for Cyndi Lauper. i pulled these images off the web and put them on a background from the "graphical paper" pack by gecko galz. i added polka dot washi tape, a flower and enamel dot, and the numbers/letter from holliewood studios fantastical steampunk alpha.
