embossing with rogue redhead...

time to get messy with inks and powders because the challenge for the next two weeks at the cheerful stamp pad is to use embossing powders!  for my DT piece i decided to use a stamp from rogue redhead designs and also to participate in the rogue redhead facebook april sketch.  the embossing technique really gives the stamped image more presence.

the sketch design is a really good one and i like how this came out.  i used coordinating papers and a sentiment from a creative memories "reminisce spring" paper pack.

our latest tag tuesday prompt is "africa."

i covered my tag base with part of the africa portion of a world map. i stamped my gorgeous african girl stamp (stamp company unknown, sadly) on vellum and affixed it to the tag base.  i added a few natural elements to complete the tag.

a menagerie of animals and papers...

as a DT member of both the lunagirl moonbeams and cheerful stamp pad challenge blogs i usually make separate creations for both challenges but this is a very busy time and i found myself combining this week -- though i am happy with the result...

we are in week two of the "use 3 different papers" challenge at cheerful stamp pad while at lunagirl moonbeams we are starting a brand new challenge called "menagerie" or "vintage animals."  i fell in love with the vintage farmyard image from lunagirl and felt it would look pretty against several coordinating papers.  i also included flowers, washi tape, a sticker sentiment and distressing.

the prize at cheerful stamp pad is a unique one this time -- the randomly selected winner will be offered a guest designer spot at the blog.  the lunagirl prize will be shopping credit at the lunagirl show.  all good stuff!

a bunny juggling eggs (and multiple blog challenges)

you know how excited i get when i can enter more than one challenge at a time!  that's what i am able to do with this piece. and beyond my excitement about all the challenges i have to tell you i love this piece as it just totally makes me smile.

i've used 2 different designer papers, a free bunny image this month from gecko galz, some easter egg stickers, some distressing and ribbon.

3 different designer papers

the latest challenge at the cheerful stamp pad has a fun prize attached.  the challenge is to use 3 different designer papers in your creation (canvas, card, tag, whatever you like).  this time the randomly selected winner will get the chance to be a guest designer at an upcoming challenge on the blog.

i chose some bright and fun colors for my 3 designer papers and i used them to make this ATC.  this was also a perfect challenge to combine with the week 15 "anything goes" challenge at scraps of color and the "fool for you" challenge at the gecko galz yahoo group which is to use a clown.  the clown here is a gecko galz vintage image.  the butterfly is a brad from alphastamps.

for week two of the victorian spring challenge at lunagirl moonbeams i've made a victorian style easter card.

i love the chicks playing together in this vintage image. i kept this card simple with designer papers and the butterfly and flower embellishments.

crazy cranium

i'm playing along at wicked wednesday again this week and the challenge is "crazy cranium."  i used a digital stamp i had from the octopode factory which i colored with colored pencils.

i gave this curious character wings from lunagirl and some bugs for friends.  the background is animal print designer paper so i am also linking up to the week 11 "animal print" challenge at scraps of color.

our prompt at tag tuesday this week was"the fantastic and the strange."  while this didn't turn out exactly as i was imagining, it is still certainly strange and a tiny bit fantastic.

welcoming a victorian spring

here in the northern hemisphere spring is really beginning to arrive at last -- in my city cherry blossoms are blooming with abandon.  at lunagirl moonbeams challenge blog we are welcoming a victorian spring for our new two week challenge.  for the next two weeks join us with your spring creations featuring a victorian era twist.  my DT piece is from lunagirl's "garden fantasy" collage sheet.

since the little writing on the image refers to book pages and a pen i thought it would be good to use a book page as a part of my tag base so i used some book page and also some pastel colored paper for my background.  i distressed the edges of all and finished the tag with lace, ribbon and a pretty ornate symbol with a sparkly bead.

as always our randomly selected challenge winner will get shopping credit at the lunagirl store.
even if it is autumn in your part of the world you can invoke the feeling of spring and play along!

bunny flowers

for week two of the "add a flower" challenge at cheerful stamp pad i've made another card featuring a cute digital image from our challenge sponsor bugaboo stamps.

i printed the bunny and chicks digi on the butterfly patterned paper by TLC creations and colored the bunny with colored pencils.  i overlaid the butterfly paper on some flowered DP and layered another patterned paper as well.  finally i added some 3D lacy flowered stickers.

wishes of a sassy showgirl...

here is one last bit of inspiration for you to play along with the sassy showgirl challenge at lunagirl moonbeams.  the challenge ends sunday so there are just a few days remaining.  (and by the way there are some vintage showgirl freebies on the lunagirl blog if you need some to play with...)

bunnies!

so cute and cuddly i admit i'm a sucker for bunnies. though i've never had a true pet bunny there was a bunny living outside my college dormitory and i brought it treats from the cafeteria salad bar every day.  this bunny was known by the dorm residents to be "michele's bunny" and, true story: i called it "rabbino."

okay, now that true confessions are out of the way bunnies happen to be the theme at the wicked wednesday ATC challenge blog this week so of course i had to make a bunny ATC.

the bunny image here is a freebie from the graphics fairy.  the little bunny in the corner is a very cool brad i got from alphastamps.  the flowers, border and pretty background paper are from my stash.

school days

lesson number one: bring flowers for teacher...
our prompt at tag tuesday this week is "school days."  hidden in my stash i found i had a tag with some letters and numbers on it already.

i added some strips of paper with script and some school girls from a lunagirl collage sheet called "girls 1929."  these girls are bearing gifts which gave me the idea to focus on gifts for teacher.
