school days 2024

at this time of year most children are returning to school after summer break, if they have not already! i'm hosting the school days challenge at tag tuesday and am indulging my nostalgic feelings about returning to school! while i confess i am perfectly happy not having a little one to get ready for school any more, i very much enjoyed it when my own child was school aged. 

here are some tags i made to get this started!

ICAD 2 of 61

welcome to day 2 of ICAD 2021 -- the index card a day challenge as sponsored by daisy yellow art. the challenge is to make art on an index card for 61 days from june 1 to july 31; this is my second year playing along. so far i am continuing with my plan to work in a mini-series using the same images for 3-5 days. this sweet owl is back!

for take a word this week we are free to do whatever we want. a nice thing during the busy holiday season. i had an ATC project to make some welcome cards. i made 10 different designs this weekend; just sharing a few here now.

another seed packet creation

i chose "seeds and plants" as the theme for the two week challenge at tag tuesday and there is one week remaining to make something on this theme and join the fun (a prize will be awarded! stickers and whatever else i throw in the envelope!). here's one last sample for you from me:

a dreamy autumn at tag tuesday

i don't know if it is autumn where you live but it is autumn time at tag tuesday for two weeks, thanks to our lovely DT member sandie who chose this theme. i made two digital tags this time.

well here's a new and original challenge theme idea for tag tuesday from wonderful wendy of the tag tuesday design team -- include mushrooms/fungi on your tag! this challenge started last week and there is one week remaining to play along. here's my creation!

have you ever been making something and the making of it felt especailly joyous? that's what this piece did for me. it just kind of made me giggle with delight. i hope you enjoy it also.

images are from a retired tumblefish studio set of digital images. the background digital paper is by gecko galz. printed on to the paper are free images of mushrooms i downloaded years ago from dover publications. there's some flower washi tape at the bottom also.

tic tac toe for real

the prompt at tag tuesday for about another week is tic tac toe. there is a tic tac toe board you use to play along -- here are the instructions from DT member Joan:

For the challenge this time I created a tic tac toe board. You need to use all 3 items in a row (across, down or diagonally) on your tag. But of course, you can use other items also. Here's the board:

this time i am following the instructions and have created a quick tag using requirements down a diagonal line: washi tape, buttons/brads/or flair, lace or ribbon.

and another piece for you today -- a few weeks ago there was a challenge at mischief circus to "fill the tray" -- a digital tray created by designer songbirdy.  i filled my tray with digital images, all from songbirdy.

these were both fun to make.

back to school!

for many children summer holidays are over and it is time to return to school.  it is my turn to host the tag tuesday challenge for the next two weeks so given the time of year i chose "back to school" as my theme.  here is my tag:

to create this collaged tag i used multiple images from gecko galz including the school days digital collage sheet, the school days digital stamps, and the chalkboard sentiments collage sheet.  there is some background paper by jodie lee designs and a butterfly from my stash.
