winter holidays

i'm hosting the next two week challenge at tag tuesday and i've chosen "winter holidays." my research has revealed SEVERAL winter holidays to choose from! i found: christmas, hanukkah, kwanzaa, solstice, los posadas, diwali, boxing day, three kings/epiphany, eid-ul-adha, and new year! this should give you plenty of inspiration for making your tags. which holidays will you choose? 

for my inspiration samples i'm starting with 2 digital tags for winter solstice (december 21), then collaged tags for hanukkah which begins on december 25 this year, christmas which is also december 25, and 2 tags for kwanzaa which begins on december 26 and runs through the 31st. if i get another burst of energy i might do some more winter holiday tags!

in honor of veterans

for our midweek muse: soldier. i have numerous family members who have served in the military -- army, navy, and air force. this soldier in my card is from an african-american images set by lunagirl, and i've used an excerpt from a poem called "the Negro Soldiers" by Roscoe Jamison, written in 1922.

one more tag for day of the dead

 i'm hosting the latest two week challenge at tag tuesday. and there is one week remaining. our theme is day of the dead (Spanish: Día de los Muertos), a holiday traditionally celebrated on november 1 and 2. and widely observed in Mexico, and is also observed in other places, especially by people of Mexican heritage. the holiday involves family and friends gathering to pay respects and remember friends and family members who have died. there are a lot of interesting themes and emerges that emerge: skeletons, skulls, marigolds, food stuffs, and altars in remembrance of the dearly departed. i hope people will have fun with this theme, and i have one last tag on this theme to share.

my images are mostly from gecko galz collage sheets and paper packs, with other bits and bobs from my stash. i hope you will play along, and perhaps use this opportunity to remember loved ones who have passed on. love to all.
