it is a simple challenge for the next two weeks at the cheerful stamp pad -- tags! so just make a tag, your choice on the theme for it. our challenge sponsor is lunagirl moonbeams a company that offers incredibly rich and gorgeous vintage images and a company for which i am proud to also be a design team member. so the randomly selected winner will get some goodies from lunagirl which is a fine thing.
i've used a lovely vintage image from lunagirl for this tag. she is dreamy isn't she? there is also a bit of postcard from another lunagirl collage sheet on here as well. along with additional designer paper, tissue tape and big lovely flower stickers.
this should be an easy challenge to join as your only constraint is to make a tag; beyond that let your imagination soar!
enjoy; love to all.
this blog is to chart my creative evolution with stamping, paper-crafting, mixed media and some other stuff i haven't figured out yet... on the theory that challenging myself to try new things and post them to the "world" will be good for me. and might also be good for others. my blog title is inspired by julia cameron's "the artist's way" and her admonition to fill the well.

autumn challenges galore!
here is a DT piece for the current "autumn" themed challenge at lunagirl moonbeams. there is one more week to enter -- challenge closes october 6.
i am also happy to link this creation to two more challenges:
the "autumn glory" challenge at tag along challenge blog
and the "autumn colors rebel challenge" at rogue redhead designs.
the background on the tag itself has two different technique junkies techniques going on but i only remember the name of one of theme -- "depth of field." the stamps here -- the flowers and the the "je t'aime" are from the floriculture sheet at rogue redhead designs. there is a bright orange flower and some tissue tape included here. and of course the lovely vintage image is from lunagirl -- the "mucha 1" collage sheet. as to the lunagirl autumn challenge a randomly selected winner will get to shop at lunagirl.
we've been enjoying changing colors, blustery winds and wild rains where i live. i hope your autumn is beautiful and safe!
love to all.

welcoming autumn
well, it is still autumn and will be for quite some time (smile). i've made another card to celebrate the autumn theme at lunagirl moonbeams. our challenge goes until october 6 so i hope you will play along.
the vintage image is from the lunagirl "mucha 1" collage sheet. i used a couple different background papers and some more of my die cut falling leaves. the lady's outstretched palms are welcoming or perhaps summoning the falling leaves and the change of seasons as an important and central part of life. i feel invited to love and accept the changing seasons -- i'm always a little reluctant to let go of summer but i'm ready now. and actually fall is one of my favorite times of year. welcome autumn!
enjoy; love to all

egypt theme at tag tuesday
the theme this week at tag tuesday is "egypt." egypt has the most wonderful rich history and yet in current times it is so troubled. i hope for peace and resolution there. my tag started its life as a stamped ATC but i decided to convert it to a tag.
it didn't turn out quite as i'd hoped but i enjoyed composing the piece with a variety of papers and embellishments that felt like a good fit together.
enjoy; love to all.

autumn at lunagirl
over here in this hemisphere we've just experienced the autumnal equinox, equal amounts of day and night onward to shorter days and then before we know it, winter. in celebration of this change of seasons, karen at lunagirl moonbeams has selected the theme of "autumn" for our new two week challenge.
this lovely lady, a vintage image from lunagirl, is hurrying off for a walk in the cool autumn evening. she is surrounded by fall colors and cascading leaves.
i hope you'll join our challenge!
i'm also linking this piece up to scraps of color week 38 blogger's choice challenge "fall colors."
happy week; love to all.

i love your hat.... x2!
question: what is better than one fabulous hat?
answer: well, two of course.
for week two of the "i love your hat" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad i used a delightful vintage photo from twisted papers as my inspiration.
this image makes me think of my best friend from high school. though high school was many years ago and we live far apart, we still quite often will buy two of something and send the second item to the other. thus we still have matching rings and hats and all manner of goodies. and these little gifts make us remember each other and our friendship with happiness and love. i can totally see us posing just like these two women in the photo and i believe i will send her this card the next time i have a little treat to share with her!
i hope you'll consider linking up to the challenge. our challenge sponsor is the wonderful digital image artist rick st dennis and a randomly selected player will get some treats from his shop.
have a wonderful week! love to all.

belly dancer with wings
a popular advertisement in this neck of the woods suggests that a certain caffeinated drink gives you wings but what gives me wings is dancing. dancing is pure joy and this tag i've made gives me the chance to try to express visually how i feel while also linking to a couple challenges.
our challenge at tag tuesday for one week starting september 17 is "wings." our ongoing challenge at lunagirl moonbeams up until september 21 is "bellydance."
my tag features a dreamy seated bellydancer from lunagirl's "la danse orientale" collage sheet but here she is given wings from the lunagirl "fly away home" collage sheet. the background paper is from alphastamps and the butterfly washi tape is by cavallini and co.
there are bellydance image freebies at the lunagirl blog which you could use if you wish to join the challenge there.
i hope you can think of something lovely that gives you wings.
happy week and love to all.

i love your hat!
here we go with challenge #69 at the cheerful stamp pad and it is "i love your hat!" our challenge sponsor is rick st dennis designs. a randomly selected challenge entrant will get some digital images from our sponsor. my card features a very well-dressed and fancifully-hatted lady:
i grew up in a tradition in which women often wore elaborate hats to church and as i colored this digi with coloring pencils i was thinking of these charming ladies. indeed my beloved late grandmother was a talented amateur milliner so hats also make me think of her. all these thoughts moved me to use my "amazing grace" stamp from silver crow creations. i also picked a fancy flower embellishment and a complementary butterfly. the background is a bit of card-stock i'd long ago colored with a variety of spray watercolors.
do you like or wear hats? i do! do you have any in your stamp or vintage image collections? then by all means join our challenge!
happy week; love to all.

more inspiration from a picture
remember that cake picture i shared last week? this is the foundation for the latest challenge at the cheerful stamp pad. use the photo below as inspiration for your creation and then you'll have the chance to be the randomly selected winner for a prize from classy cards n such.
here's the inspiration piece:
and this week i took it as inspiration for a garden fairy tea party. because my imagination tells me that they would surely serve pink cake!
i do not recall the origins of the vintage fairy and tea cup (at bottom) but the fairy at top is from itkupilli.
i hope you'll have fun being challenged by this image. deadline to link up is sunday the 15th...
love to all.

ooh la la for belly dance!
our new theme at lunagirl moonbeams is belly dance! this is a beautiful form of dance and i feel lucky that i was able to learn it and practice it for a couple of years. i'd love to take it up again. until then i can satisfy myself with this challenge. i hope you'll consider joining in as the randomly selected winner will get to shop at lunagirl for some vintage delight.
i made a gothic arch and covered it in beautiful papers from alphastamps. i cut an oval and a rectangle out of one of the papers and behind them are two vintage images from the lunagirl "la danse orientale" collage sheet. i framed those with pro markers, added vintage lace, belly dance charms and a banner (charms and banner from alphastamsps also) to finish the piece.
don't have any belly dance stamps or images in your stash? here's a cool belly dance FREEBIE from lunagirl!
enjoy; love to all.

flowers and butterflies oh my!
ok, one last bit of inspiration for the lunagirl moonbeams seed packs/vintage garden challenge. just a handful of days left to link up but the randomly selected winner will get some spending money for the lunagirl store, a wonderful place to shop for vintage lovelies.
the flowers are from the "french flowers seed pack #1" sheet and they are joined by a garden fairy from the lunagirl "fly away home" sheet. and obviously i went hog wild with the butterflies as my main embellishment here.
if you check out the lunagirl moonbeams blog you'll find several free images usable for the seed pack/vintage garden challenge. there are several posts with freebies but the most recent freebie is here.
i'll be home from my travels soon and hope to find that we've got many entries for the challenge.
enjoy; love to all.

the romance of flowers
we are starting week two of the lunagirl moonbeams seed packs challenge. this time i used an image from the "french flower seed pack #2" sheet and paired it with a couple from the vintage couples CD.
i love the neutrals and pinks and greens here and i enhanced these colors with designer papers and other bits to bring the romantic message home. one more week to play along!
this is a scheduled post as i'm off on vacation at long last. but i'll have some goodies coming up even while i'm away.
love to all.

inspired by a picture
vicki at the cheerful stamp pad selected a fun picture from pinterest and asked us to use it as inspiration for a creation. so for the next two weeks you are also challenged to use this picture as inspiration for a creation of your own! here is the picture:
cake makes me think birthdays and so i decided to make a bookmark with a child all dressed up for a birthday party!
i combined designer papers with tissue tape, vintage lace, and other goodies to frame the vintage image of a precious little girl all dressed up for a special occasion. this challenge is a bit more abstract than usual but that makes it a bit more fun, eh?
enjoy; love to all.
