fabulous faces

it's my turn to choose the next two week tag tuesday challenge and i've chosen the theme of "faces." i own so many faces stamps that i could have made 30 or more tags (embarrassing but true)! in fact i did make several but will just share 3 today -- come back next week for the second installment!

stamp by technique junkies; sentiment is from tim holtz ideology; washi tape from pipsticks and the rest are items from my stash.

face stamp by rubber stampede; sentiment stamp by 100 proof press; the rest are items from my stash of supplies.

just so you know that all the faces do not have to be human! this lovely cat face is from lost coast designs and the sentiment is from leavenworth jackson stamps. background paper is gecko galz and the rest are stash items.

i hope you will have fun with this theme, there are so many ways to play with faces!

love to all.

new stamp play

i got some new stamps from the technique junkies site this month, a few of which were new releases.  yes, it was an impulse buy.  i usually try not to buy stamps because i have about a million of them.  but the images are really lovely.  and i love to grab african american images when i find them.

so i was having a rough day the other day and i didn't have time for any fancy play but here's what i did...

i covered ATC bases with designer paper, and stamped simply in black.  it made me feel better to stamp a bit.

sending love and light to all of you.

take a word -- hearts

here is an ATC for the take a word challenge this week which is "hearts."

the background is something i made a long time ago with a technique from technique junkies though i do not recall the name of the technique.  obviously it involves using different shades of markers.

i do not know the stamp company for the tiny hearts but the rest of the stamps are from leavenworth jackson.

i give tags and ATCs to coworkers for valentine's day so this will go into that batch!

love to all.

happy birthday to rogue redhead designs!

rebel challenge 29 at rogue redhead designs is "happy birthday or unbirthday" in celebration of the november birthday of the stamp company.  i used one of my favorite RRD stamps from the milliner misses stamp plate for my birthday card.  she is colored with pro markers.

this card also uses the "washi weave" technique which is one of my favorite techniques from technique junkies.  the happy birthday stamp is from memory box stamps.
i'm linking up to "anything goes" challenge #48 at scraps of color.

many angel wings

if you can't get enough of angels and wings then the current challenge at the cheerful stamp pad is definitely for you.  our theme is angel wings and our challenge sponsor is michelle perkett studios, a digital stamp image company.  the randomly selected winner will get some nice digis.

for my DT sample i used another tutorial from the technique junkies newsletter -- called "depth of field."  my angel stamp is from judikins. the cardstock was spritzed with watercolor inks, then torn, distressed and added to a brown cardstock base.  i added a quote which i printed from my computer and distressed; it is a quote i love.  i added a dragonfly sticker and some other flourishes.

i hope you enjoy and might think to join this challenge. to participate you just need to have some wings showing.

love to all.

angel wings

like so many artists and crafters i love working with angels and with wings so the new two week challenge at cheerful stamp pad definitely makes me happy -- the theme is "angel wings."  our challenge sponsor is the lovely digital stamp company michelle perkett.  a randomly selected winner will get some goodies from the company.

here is my first DT piece for the challenge:

my cardstock was spritzed with watercolor inks.  i tried the "washi weave" tutorial from technique junkies to make for a different kind of background.  my stamp is a favorite one from character constructions.  i printed a relevant quote from my computer then tore it and distressed the edges.  a few other embellies and voila! angel wings.

i hope you'll join us.  i'm also linking up to the "sentiments" challenge at that craft place challenge blog.
love to all.

autumn challenges galore!

here is a DT piece for the current "autumn" themed challenge at lunagirl moonbeams.  there is one more week to enter -- challenge closes october 6.
i am also happy to link this creation to two more challenges:
the "autumn glory" challenge at tag along challenge blog
and the "autumn colors rebel challenge" at rogue redhead designs.

the background on the tag itself has two different technique junkies techniques going on but i only remember the name of one of theme -- "depth of field."  the stamps here -- the flowers and the the "je t'aime" are from the floriculture sheet at rogue redhead designs. there is a bright orange flower and some tissue tape included here. and of course the lovely vintage image is from lunagirl -- the "mucha 1" collage sheet.  as to the lunagirl autumn challenge a randomly selected winner will get to shop at lunagirl.

we've been enjoying changing colors, blustery winds and wild rains where i live.  i hope your autumn is beautiful and safe!

love to all.

gothic cuties challenge

happy new week!  may spring be reaching you wherever you are (or perhaps autumn if you're on the other side of the equator from me!).

we are starting a new two week challenge at the cheerful stamp pad.  the theme is "gothic cuties" and our challenge sponsor is dilly beans stamps.  use cute or scary gothic images for this challenge.  i colored the "flower girl" digi from dilly beans with pencils.  i placed her on a background using the "faux paint swatch" technique from technique junkies.

enjoy and please consider playing along.
love to all.

i hope you will join in the challenge!
love to all.

getting dotty for pink saturday and passion friday

i've been wanting to try the "dotty edges" technique from technique junkies and decided to make something that would work for a couple of linky parties.

i stamped a sweet pea stamps image by ching chou kuik and colored it with pencils and then applied the "dotty edges."  some little embellies finish it off. and i'll be sending it off in the mail to my technique junkies "just one" partner for the month of june.

with this post i'm wishing everyone a happy pink saturday and a happy passion parade friday. please consider stopping by both links to see some lovely creations.

love to all.

angels can fly because they take themselves lightly

one more week for the "sweet life" challenge at the cheerful stamppad. our challenge sponsor is stampotique originals so a randomly selected winner will get some goodies from stampotique. the challenge theme is simple -- make whatever you want expressing whatever you think is sweet.  pretty easy!

i made a tag with a variety of sweet designer papers. the central image stamp and the quote stamp are both from stampotique originals.  the technique i used for the stamping is from the technique junkies newsletter and it is called "random coloring." the gentle leaves stamp over the little angel is from stampendous.  i was in need of a some sweet angelic assistance recently and this tag came out of that moment in time!

enjoy; love to all.

cheerful stamp pad challenge #44- "the sweet life"

what makes life sweeter?  things you eat?  things you do?  things you see?  we are starting a new two week challenge at the cheerful stamp pad and the theme is "the sweet life."  create around this "sweet" theme in whatever way you like.
i love this collage stamp from stampotique originals designed by artist amy wilson.  it got me reflecting on the sweetness (sometimes bittersweetness) of being a woman.  there's a lot going on with this stamp...  i used a technique junkies technique from the august/september 2005 newsletter called "background pop."  the main image is stamped in raisin colored ink on beige card stock.  the flower outline stamp i used to "pop" the word "femme" is from connor's collectibles stamps.  the stamped image is further outlined with a marker and then matted with some pink designer paper with a subtle bubble pattern.  all is placed on magenta card stock, with some sparkly flowers and a button added for embellishment.
our challenge sponsor is stampotique originals.. all kinds of juicy stamps and supplies on their site!
you've got two weeks.  i hope you'll find time to participate.

one more thing, two weeks ago while i was not paying attention i obtained my 100th follower and then 2 more after that.  THANK YOU everyone who stops by to read, comment, enjoy and follow.

as i am also approaching my second year of blogging (in june) i am beginning the process of putting together my first blog candy. given all the graduation celebrations and general craziness ahead in my june watch for the candy in july. sweet stuff indeed!  stay tuned...

love to all.

delicious treats

i'm a bit delinquent posting about some delicious treats that have come my way in the past few weeks.
i was the VERY lucky recipient of some stellar blog candy from shelly of my creative rumblings.
as you can see i got the technique junkies 3D and fun folds CD.  i haven't had time to play with it yet but i promised shelly that the first nice thing i make from it goes directly to her!  this is a big deal because i am definitely intimidated by things i have to fold and manipulate.  you should see my attempts at origami back in the day.  trust me it was scary!  shelly also sent me the beautiful card which you see in the photo with the CD.
i also got this fabulous group of french post cards (and a lovely tag) from trishia at french kissed postcards.  i participated in her "love me two" challenge back in march.  she has another challenge going in april as well so hop on over to her blog to learn more.  she posts some of the "underloved" postcards from her sale shop, offers them for free and asks that you make some art and send it to her.  i had a great time entering her challenge and now i look forward to scanning these awesome cards and using them in my art!
so these are the lovely things that have come my way as a result of the kindness and generosity of the fine artists of blogland.  blessings to all of you wonderful artists for being so sweet.  please check out both blogs and show these two ladies some love.

love to all.

happy birthday challenge at the cheerful stamp pad!

the new two-week challenge at cheerful stamp pad is to make a birthday card.  the prize for the randomly selected winner will come from clear dollar stamps.
the digi in use here comes from a clear dollar stamps digi sentiments set called "patchwork."  which inspired me to use the "patchwork" technique from the technique junkies newsletter.

since we always need birthday cards this is a very useful challenge.  please join in.
love to all...
