doors, stamped, an experiment

hello all, it is a super-blustery autumn day in my part of the world. good times for making! the latest challenge at tag tuesday, hosted by our awesome DT sister Wendy, is "doors, windows, or arches."

i really thought i owned some sort of a door stamp as i wanted to stamp something. since i discovered i did not own such a stamp (or could not find it! ha!) i thought i would try to create a door with stamps i have. the following are experiments which i decided to just go ahead and post even though they certainly are not polished work by any means.

i actually was just stamping on cardstock and then cut around what i'd stamped to make a tag shape -- that's to tell you just how very "experimental" this whole thing was!

i created the doors using different stamps from the rubbermoon "stampstracts" stamps. the checkerboard, alice, and kissing lady are from leavenworth jackson. the dream and clock are from inkadinkado. words from a tim holtz set.

i hope you'll forgive these rough creations -- no color, masking, or anything fancy -- just plain stamping, and it was a nice little play time.

i hope you'll take a look at the challenge for yourself -- remember it can be doors, windows, or arches -- one more week to play!

love to all.

down on the farm

i'm a little late joining in but there is still one week left to play along with the tag tuesday "down on the farm" theme, hosted by our dear DT member (and fearless leader!) valerie

rubber stamping time! the sun is from uptown rubber stamps and the fowl are from leavenworth jackson. background paper is gecko galz with a grassy field from retired tumblefish studios.

about my little sentiment "simplify life," (words from tim holtz) i know it is easy for city folks like me to think farm life is simple though really i know better. it is incredibly hard work running a farm and i am so grateful to farmers, especially small family farmers for what they do to feed the rest of us.

ICAD the call of the sea; 2 birthday cards

the theme today for the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art is "anchor," and so here is my "call of the sea" card.

i've used a piece of a real map, a compass rubber stamp from leavenworth jackson, and mermaid and anchor from gecko galz collage sheets (sea nymphs and nautical). there's a faint bit of stamping from a meer image (retired company) waves stamp as well.
----------------------------------------------------------
also sharing two birthday cards i made recently:

images from songbirdy, itKuPiLLi imagenarium, gecko galz (butterfly), lunagirl (moon), rubber moon art stamps (washi tape up the side) and words from retired tumblefish studios.

a pause to reflect, ICAD

my index card for today, for the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art is on the theme of "pause." i had intended to mask the buddha stamp and forgot to do so, decided to continue with the card anyway. it therefore isn't quite as i had hoped but here it is.

background paper from gecko galz. mountain stamp from PSX, buddha stamp from inkadinakdo, lotus stamp from leavenworth jackson, spiral stamp, unknown.

more fabulous faces

there's one week remaining to play along with the "faces" challenge at tag tuesday. here are a few more faces tags i made for this challenge.

face stamp by invoke arts; sentiment by leavenworth jackson stamps. designer paper, butterfly brad and washi from my stash.

face stamp by technique junkies; sentiment stamp from viva las vegas stamps. butterfly is from lunagirl. washi from pipsticks, paper from stash.

face stamp from lost coast designs; sentiment stamp by penny black stamps. washi, border, flower, enamel dot, etc., from my stash of supplies.

i stamped many more of my face stamps onto various book pages and designer papers but they didn't all make it onto tags. i'm sure they will turn up in future projects, stamped and ready to go!

fabulous faces

it's my turn to choose the next two week tag tuesday challenge and i've chosen the theme of "faces." i own so many faces stamps that i could have made 30 or more tags (embarrassing but true)! in fact i did make several but will just share 3 today -- come back next week for the second installment!

stamp by technique junkies; sentiment is from tim holtz ideology; washi tape from pipsticks and the rest are items from my stash.

face stamp by rubber stampede; sentiment stamp by 100 proof press; the rest are items from my stash of supplies.

just so you know that all the faces do not have to be human! this lovely cat face is from lost coast designs and the sentiment is from leavenworth jackson stamps. background paper is gecko galz and the rest are stash items.

i hope you will have fun with this theme, there are so many ways to play with faces!

world heritage day

tuesday april 18 happens to be world heritage day, which according to my research is connected to the international monuments and sites celebration in which we are encouraged to visit monuments and sites.  who knew?  this is also our latest challenge at tag tuesday.  i've decided to visit egypt with my tag.

my background paper is from the out of africa paper pack by gecko galz.  the stamps are from (in order of appearance) leavenworth jackson, good stamps stamp goods, uptown rubber stamps.  the stamps were stamped on paper from the prima song bird pack.

i've never been to egypt for real.  it would certainly be wonderful to get to go there.

take a word -- hearts

here is an ATC for the take a word challenge this week which is "hearts."

the background is something i made a long time ago with a technique from technique junkies though i do not recall the name of the technique.  obviously it involves using different shades of markers.

i do not know the stamp company for the tiny hearts but the rest of the stamps are from leavenworth jackson.

i give tags and ATCs to coworkers for valentine's day so this will go into that batch!

love to all.

inky hearts

we've been asked to "get inky" at tag tuesday this week and that means stamping.  and since i'm still making little trinkets for valentine's day i made a tag of inky hearts.

the background paper forming the base of this tag is from the gecko galz "smitten" paper pack.  there are 3 heart stamps that i stamped and overstamped over the background, all from hero arts.  the kissing lips stamp at the bottom is from leavenworth jackson stamps company.  the face is from the face to face jewel it collage sheet by gecko galz.  true confessions: i had not intended to include the face.  i stamped a cherub stamp and totally flubbed the impression so i saved the tag by covering it with the face image.  looks kind of mysterious!

although i usually make "moos" for the moo mania and more challenges i am including this piece since the theme there is "hearts" and we are allowed to post any type of creation.  i'll post an actual moo later this week,

have a lovely week.  love to all.

gecko galz and wild abandon

back on the 1st when i posted two tags created for the gecko galz cross-product promotion with wild abandon company i promised some more goodies featuring both products.  here are 2 more tags.

the dress forms are by wild abandon.  the background papers, owl body, moth, hat and face are from gecko galz.  i've added flowers, washi tape and beads from my stash.  the wonderful stamp on the 1st tag is from one of my favorites, leavenworth jackson.

an UPDATE: you can go to the gecko galz blog to vote on your favorite design created by our design team on this cross promotion theme.  vote for your favorite design and be entered in our WILD ABANDON GIVEAWAY where you might win a gift pack from with wild abandon!  excitement!

i decided to link up to pink saturday this week!

things with wings

sweet pea stamps are truly sweet.  i haven't participated in one of their blog challenges for awhile but i am this week -- "things with wings."  it is hard to find a stamp from sweet pea that doesn't involve wings!  i may have gone a bit crazy with the theme for my card though...

this gorgeous sweet pea stamp is by artist teresa sherman and is called "kissing butterflies."  i stamped her on pretty paper from the paper temptress and then colored her with pencils.  the butterfly border is a stamp from hero arts which i also enhanced with colored pencils.  finally the "you are so wonderful" stamp is from leavenworth jackson.  the card stock is covered in patterned tissue paper and that's pretty much it.  if i were a butterfly fairy this would totally be my look.

i'm also linking up to challenges at aurora wings (butterflies challenge), and "things with wings" at sentimental sundays and artistic inspirations.

love to all.

girls with curls!

its time for a new challenge at the cheerful stamp pad. challenge #17 is girls with curls, a chance to celebrate those curly girls.  the challenge sponsor is mo's digital pencil.

my card uses the marbled smoosh technique from technique junkies.  my stamps are a clown girl from character constructions and the lady blowing a kiss is from leavenworth jackson.  i placed the lady blowing a kiss on a butterfly to give her wings.  i thought i was going to go totally monochromatic with blue but i ended up adding some hints of red.

i hope you'll join in the challenge!
love to all.
