fright night!

just in time for all hallow's eve our prompt at tag tuesday this week is "fright night!"  i've made 2 tag featuring vintage images and designer papers all by gecko galz.

it's about time i did something with poe this year!

anything goes, with fall colors

welcome to challenge #98 at the cheerful stamp pad.  you are invited to make a new creation on the theme of "anything goes" with one requirement -- use fall colors.  that's pretty easy, yes?  our sponsor is once again the great folks at stitchy bear stamps.  a randomly selected winner will get some shopping credit at stitchy bear digital outlet.

for my DT piece "sunflower garden" i used a sunflower digital image by "my heart pieces" and fall leaves background designer paper by "coosty creations" both designers at stitchy bear.

i printed the digi on some colored paper and colored the image with pencils.  after cutting it out i went around the edges with my red gold pro marker.  i added a few embellishments to finish it, keeping things simple.

altered cards, set 6, hallowe'en!

the 6th tutorial in our march through altering 52 playing cards at claudine's art corner has a hallowe'en theme.  here are my 2 cards:

the first card has moon and lady images from the graphics fairy.  the background on this card has a short story.  i started by using spray paints and then stamping over with a crackle background stamp but the red effect i was shooting for turned out too pink.  so i painted over it with an acrylic paint and got a color i liked and yet the crackle still showed through so i was happy about that.  i did some black pen doodling on this card, and added a spooky die cut fence and a die cut bat.  the 31 is handwritten on some designer paper which i cut out into a circle.  the "hist and hark" sentiment is from cs designs and is actually the first line of a short poem, the remaining 3 lines of which are on the second card!

for the second card i painted over the geessoed background with acrylic paint and added several strips of washi and tissue tapes.  i stamped my inkadinkado dancing skeleton onto some designer paper and cut him out to add along with an owl from graphics fairy.  as mentioned the sentiment is from cs designs although this time i distressed over it with a couple different distress inks.  there is a fleur de lis brad in the corner.  both cards are further distressed around the edges in black.

a moon goddess beholds the skies

this beloved moon goddess is observing the moons and planets in her magical celestial sphere.  the stars are singing!  this ATC is a little week 2 inspiration for you for the moon goddess challenge at lunagirl moonbeams.

thankful autumn leaves

in my hemisphere fall is truly here so the "fall leaves" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad is right on time.  our challenge sponsor is stitchy bear stamps and our DT was given some images from coosty creations for our samples.

this week i made a card.  i used 2 different digital background papers created by coosty creations and a digital stamp sentiment piece from gecko galz.  the coosty creations autumn basket digital image is here too although this time i printed it, colored it with pencils and then used only the bottom half for this card.  i added some shiny fall leaves stickers as well.

altered cards, set 5

i'm continuing with the altered card deck challenge, slowly but surely.  this is a challenge to alter an entire deck of cards with weekly tutorials over at claudine's art corner.  here is my 5th set:

as always both cards started with a gessoed background.  on the "create" card i painted the background with acrylic paints.  claudine used a circles stencil.  i didn't ave one so i made my own stencil with cardboard and scissors.  i didn't have the wonderful little winged boy stamp that claudine had but i had this little star guy from "stamp in the hand" and i gave him wings from a lunagirl collage sheet.  i did the doodling with a black ink pen and some with a white poster paint pen.  the "create" was from a word stamp set i have and the little dragonfly bard came from eyelet outlet.

the second card is covered with a variety of designer paper scraps and then i distressed it with a couple different distress inks. the lovely photo portrait is from the lunagirl african american vintage images CD.  claudine stamped her numbers but i used stickers and then finished with a butterfly brad and my dream stamp.

the rest of the group is a coupled weeks ahead but i am making my way forward with this.  i'd always wanted to altered card deck and it is wonderful to get inspiration and new ideas and techniques each week from claudine.

gecko galz inspiration -- thanksgiving

more new products and more inspiration to share with you from gecko galz!  this card is focused on the thanksgiving holiday and i call it "count your blessings."

instructions:

i covered the cardstock with 2 coordinating designer papers, both with a sheet music theme from the mayflower paper pack.  I tore one of them and arranged it in the middle; all edges were distressed with distress inks.  i printed the “count your blessings” digital stamp onto another sheet of paper from the mayflower pack.  i cut out the stamp and arranged it on my decorated card stock.  i cut out the little girl and added her along with the flower and leaf die cut, distressing all elements as i worked with each. 

well now i have one thanksgiving card done!

moon goddess in love

moon goddess is the new theme at lunagirl moonbeams for the next two weeks.  i used vintage images from two lunagirl collage sheets -- "celestial" and "celestial II"  to make my ATC.

the wonderful harlequin background paper came from alphastamps.  i punched a heart shape from some primavera paper by iTkUpiLLi.  i used a couple different tissue tapes, distress inks and the je t'aime stamp from rogue redhead designs.

fall leaves at the cheerful stamp pad!

challenge #97 time at the cheerful stamp pad -- "fall leaves" is our new theme.  link up a creation featuring fall leaves for a chance to win a prize from our sponsor stitchy bear.  for this challenge our DT got some coosty creations digital items from our sponsor for our creations.  i used the "autumn basket" digital stamp along with some digital background paper from coosty.

for my tag i covered the tag base with the lovely autumn digital paper which i'd printed with the autumn basket image right on it.  i colored the basket with pencils and all i really did was add the sentiment which comes from the gecko galz thanksgiving digital stamp set.  i added a couple autumn leaves brads which i got from eyelet outlet.

this will also be my tag for the "autumn extravaganza" theme at tag tuesday this week.  i am also linking up to happy fall y'all at craft hoarders anonymous.  and finally to the "fall colors" challenge at scraps of color.

altered card deck, set 4

slowly i am making my way through the altered deck tutorials at claudine's art corner.  i'm a few weeks behind but no matter, i'm having fun with it.  here's what i made for the week 4 set:

the bases on these are gessoed and then painted with acrylics.  on the first i hand drew the houses on a variety of designer papers and typed the sentiments and also used stickers.  on the second i also hand drew the shop but the vintage image is from the lunagirl steampunk girls collage sheet.  i think this woman is solving a crime that took place in the shop!

gecko galz inspiration -- hallowe'en

instructions:

i covered my cardstock with the “conjur” and “all hallows eve” designer papers from the gecko galz coven paper pack and distressed all edges.  i also added the spooky fence die cut at the bottom.  i cut the tickets i wanted from the spooky tickets collage sheet and cut out the little witch girl, the black cat and the moon.  all edges were distressed with distress inks.  i spent a fair amount of time deciding how to arrange all the collage elements as desired and then glued all the pieces down.  i added the spider and witch hat brad last.

autumn goddess with birds, recycled...

i'm excited to share another bit of inspiration for the "put a bird on it" challenge at lunagirl moonbeams while also offering another creation for the recycle, re-purpose and re-invent october fall harvest/hallowe'en challenge at the doodle artifacts blog.

here's what i made, an autumn goddess with birds book:

but it started like this:

this is a little composition book, just 3 by 4 inches.  i first covered the front and back with designer paper by gecko galz. although i do own book binding tape i used a piece of dark green tape from my stash for the binding.  the goddess image and the three birds come from lunagirl collage sheets.  there is an autumn-ish sticker on the top, an adhesive felt border at the bottom and an autumn leaf brad from eyelet outlet.  i distressed around the edges with old paper and rust colored inks.

these are both great challenges!  enjoy.

sweet love goddess and bird

birds birds birds how i love these birds!  it is week two for the lunagirl moonbeams challenge.  we are asking everyone to "put a bird on it"  by adding birds to your art.  the randomly chosen winner will get some shopping $$ for the lunagirl store. i have another tag for DT inspiration this week,

i really enjoyed making this tag.  i started with some wonderful designer paper from my stash which i lightly stamped in brown ink with a "crackle" background stamp from sonlight impressions.  i added a torn strip of some additional designer paper at the bottom.  on the left side i doodled some spirals with my red-gold metallic pro-marker.  i also added the moth, torn from some other designer paper and lots of washi tape.

the beautiful lady is from the lunagirl "goddess" collage sheet and the bird is from one of the many "birds" collage sheets at lunagirl.  the stamped "je t'aime" is a stamp by rogue redhead designs.  i stamped it on tissue paper and tore that as well.

little kitty costume trick or treat

as we continue the "hallowe'en costumes and fun" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad for this week i grabbed a little girl in a kitty costume for my DT piece.  our sponsor is stitchy bear stamps and our team was given images to play with designed by alipeeps art.

i colored the digital image with pencils.  she is out for her night of fun on my tag which also features die cuts, ribbon and some background designer paper by gecko galz.

more birds and more altered card deck fun!

at lunagirl moonbeams we are challenging you to "put a bird on it," that is, to use birds in your art and for the week 3 prompt at claudine's art corner altered card deck challenge the week 3 sample for "fall" also featured a bird. which means a chance for me to combine challenges!  here are my 2 altered cards for week 3, the first of which features a lovely owl from lunagirl's "owls" collage sheet.

in addition to the lunagirl owl on the first card, that same card also features leaves from the linagirl "autumn leaves" collage sheet.  i also have washi tape, a bit of a sun stamp from uptown rubber and stick on letters. (if you saw my monday post you can tell i was using some of the same supplies lol!).  the background of the card itself was done with distress inks (over a gessoed card base).

the second card also features an image from lunagirl -- the woman at top left, from the "steampunk girls" collage sheet.  the other steampunk images  were 3 images from dezinaworld that i combined to make one digital collage piece, then printed and cut out.  the stamped image (stamped on another sheet of designer paper) is from a tim holtz stamp set.  the background on this altered card was done with alcohol inks (over a gessoed card base).  also a fleur de lis brad!

jeepers creepers!

it is the month of october and all things that go BUMP in the night!  to celebrate the fun and spooky at the gecko galz blog our monthly customer challenge is "jeepers creepers."

here is an ATC to get you started.  i'm so glad this little costumed sweetie pie has her big strong dog with her out in the night because there is a lot of creepiness going on!  she looks appropriately apprehensive...

i covered the cardboard ATC base with gecko galz coven paper pack “dark magic” and distressed the edges.  i added a piece of black magic mesh.  i cut out all collage sheet images and after arranging them to my satisfaction, glued them to the ATC base.  i added the “boo” sentiment from my stash.

the customer challenge winner will receive a prize pack including $15 shopping spree at the gecko galz store, plus a bo bunny product pack.  yippee!
