something spooky this way comes....

it is my turn to host the next two weeks at tag tuesday and i've chosen the theme of "spooky." make a spooky/hallowe'en themed tag and join the party! i have a handful of tags to get this started and i'll be posting more tags throughout the two week period.

it just isn't hallowe'en season in my book unless i've made something with Poe... images from various gecko galz kits.

this one has some gecko galz and the moon/bat is from rhonda's originals.

mostly gecko galz with witches from a tim holtz paper doll set.

more gecko galz and rhonda's originals, and goodies from my stash.

i hope you will play along!

love to all.

night sky; paisley

the sunday postcard art challenge today is: night sky. with such a lovely theme i ended up making 2 postcards.

images from rhonda's originals, pixabay, tumblefish studios (words), miles beyond the moon, and itKuPiLLi.

images from with wild abandon, cryztal rain, miles beyond the moon, and pixabay.

===============================

on the proper day and on prompt: today's "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art, is on the theme of "paisley."

i printed a paisley image from the web, cut the pieces out and traced onto various gecko galz papers and cut out the pieces to make my own paisley pattern. underneath that is some watercolor spray inks and a stencil that didn't work out for a different project so it became the background for this one. the woman, word, and her crown are from ART TEA LIFE.

==============================================

last nut not least today, a birthday card i made for a friend today. she and i are both fans of the late, great shirley chisholm.

i pulled the photo and quote from the web. the paper and butterfly are from gecko galz.

that's it! love to all.

gecko galz inspiration -- hallowe'en

i'm happy to be sharing some of the new gecko galz products this month.  my card is called "you are invited."

supplies:
gecko galz coven paper pack “conjur” and “all hallows eve”
hallowe’en tickets from gecko galz “spooky tickets” collage sheet
little witch girl from gecko galz “oktober” collage sheet
black cat from gecko galz “hallowe’en ephemera” collage sheet
die cut spooky fence
spider sticker
purple witch hat brad
distress inks

instructions:

i covered my cardstock with the “conjur” and “all hallows eve” designer papers from the gecko galz coven paper pack and distressed all edges.  i also added the spooky fence die cut at the bottom.  i cut the tickets i wanted from the spooky tickets collage sheet and cut out the little witch girl, the black cat and the moon.  all edges were distressed with distress inks.  i spent a fair amount of time deciding how to arrange all the collage elements as desired and then glued all the pieces down.  i added the spider and witch hat brad last.

if you pop on over to the gecko galz website you can see inspiration from all the gecko galz design team members!  lots of gorgeous new products this month.

gecko galz cross promotion with rhonda's originals...

each month at gecko galz we get products from another company and are asked to create using products form that company and from gecko galz.  this month our cross promotion is with rhonda's originals and we were provided some hallowe'en images to work with.

i made my first ever wall hanging.

my supplies:
corrugated cardboard, dye inks in orange and mahogany, twine, rhonda’s originals CS26 moonbirds part 2 collage sheet, gecko galz haunted ephemera collage sheet, “trick or treat” sentiment from a martha stewart hallowe'en paper pack, zombie brad, glue dots and scor-tape.

here's what i did:

i started by carefully tearing at an old box to reveal the corrugated surface.  i tore my piece to size based on the collage design i had in mind.   i lightly rubbed the inks over the cardboard to get the coloring i wanted (this was bad for the ink pads – next time i’ll use a makeup sponge).  i measured holes and gently punched the cardboard and also measured the twine and gently inserted it into the holes and tied it, leaving some extra twine fringes hanging down on each side.  i had already selected the images i wanted from the two collage sheets and fussy cut them.  using glue dots and scor tape i attached each image to the base.  the “trick or treat” and brad were added last.

fairy trick or treat!

for week two of the "anything goes" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad this week i chose a fairy digital image from our sponsor stitchy bear (image design by "lil diva").  i colored her with pencils.  when i started coloring i didn't realize she was going to come out quite so gothic looking.  but since she did i thought here is a chance to make a hallowe'en themed card -- it is right around the corner!

the wonderful gothic background paper is "coven" from gecko galz.  the very cool moon and moon-crow are by rhonda's originals. i added the words "trick or treat" and a ghost brad from my stash.

since the challenge is "anything goes," you can link up a creation on any theme or in any format. the randomly selected winner will get a shopping spree at stitchy bear.  if you take a cue from me and involve a fairy in your creation, remember that there is a fairyland challenge theme lasting one more week at lunagirl moonbeams; so link up there as well if your creation fits that theme.

have a wonderful week.
love to all.

school days!

it's a new month and at gecko galz that means a new monthly challenge.  since it is september it makes perfect sense to choose "school days" as our challenge.  if you link up a school days creation featuring at least one image by gecko galz you'll be in the running for a prize pack including a $25 gecko galz shopping spree and a prize pack from rhonda's originals.  here's some inspiration from me for you:

for my "scholar" tag i used the following supplies:
gecko galz school days digital stamps
gecko galz “old world maps” vintage image
designer paper
washi tape
ribbon
distress inks
polyvinyl hole reinforcement

and here's what i did:
first i re-sized the digital stamps to the desired size, printed and fussy cut.  i covered the cardstock tag base with alphabet designer paper then tore a piece of map from the old world maps collage sheet to adhere to the tag base.  i used distress inks around the edges.  i arranged the two digital stamps on the tag as I wanted them and added washi tape, the hole reinforcement and the ribbon.

i love the digital stamp i used here -- it reminds me of some old style cartoon.
link up your school days creation for fun at gecko galz!
i'm also linking this up to the week 34 back to school challenge at scraps of color.

love to all.
