i love the java jive and it loves me! "cappuccino" is the theme today for the "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art.
the coffee background paper and mug in the corner are from retired stitchy bear digital images artists. the woman and butterfly are from gecko galz and the sun from itKuPiLLi.
and because i love this song soooooo much:
love to all.
this blog is to chart my creative evolution with stamping, paper-crafting, mixed media and some other stuff i haven't figured out yet... on the theory that challenging myself to try new things and post them to the "world" will be good for me. and might also be good for others. my blog title is inspired by julia cameron's "the artist's way" and her admonition to fill the well.

who loves coffee?
for the next two weeks the challenge theme at tag tuesday is "beverages." you're invited to make a tag with any kind of beverage. our fearless design team leader Valerie LOVES coffee so much that she often posts photos of her coffee drinks along with her beautiful art creations. so my tag is dedicated to her!
the woman and cup images are from lunagirl; the background paper and sentiment came from one of the artists at stitchy bear digital outlet (now closed). i also have some tissue tape, a paper flower, enamel dot, ribbon and distress ink to finish the piece.
i also love coffee, especially the smell of it!
enjoy playing along with the challenge!
love to all.

the smell of freshly ground heaven...
last week at tag tuesday the prompt was cups and cutlery and i went with a tea party theme. this week the prompt is coffee and tea. well, i pretty much went with just the coffee...
because it really does smell like freshly ground heaven! when i was growing up a coffee pot was ALWAYS on. so it is a smell i associate with homey things.
vintage lady from the steampunk girls collage sheet by lunagirl. the white coffee pot is from delicious doodles and all the rest of the images are from coosty creations -- the latter two products are sold by stitchy bear digital images.
linking to try it on tuesday and the current challenge to "make us smile."
enjoy and love to all.

hearts and flowers, continued
hearts and flowers are always lovely themes for cards. the current challenge at the cheerful stamp pad is "hearts and flowers" -- link up a creation including either or both hearts and flowers for a chance to win a prize from our sponsor stitchy bear stamps. our DT was given digital images from stitchy bear artist floppy latte for our creations. here is my week 2 card:
the digital image is called "large shaded flower" and i printed it on gecko galz paper and then colored it with colored pencils. i cut that piece and layered it on a second piece of designer paper from gecko galz then added borders, distressing and a punched heart. this card could be used for a birthday, get well, sympathy or any number of occasions. you have one more week to link up.
love to all.

hearts and flowers
the new two week challenge at the cheerful stamp pad is "hearts and flowers," a challenge sponsored by stitchy bear stamps. our DT was given digital images from stitchy bear company floppy latte to work with. i was asked to use a digital image called "doves and heart frame." i thought this image would make a nice wedding gift tag.
i used some designer paper from gecko galz for the background and decided not to color the digital stamp but to just print it out, fussy cut it and add it to the colorful paper. i picked up on the white color theme by using a white die cut border, a white heart brad and white ribbon. i also added a sentiment stamp from my stash.
for this challenge: please link up a new creation to the challenge blog that includes either or both hearts AND flowers. a randomly selected winner will receive a prize from the stitchy bear online store.
love to all.

in the kitchen!
it is cooking time and we are "in the kitchen" with the cheerful stamp pad and our challenge sponsor stitchy bear digital stamps. for the next two weeks link up a creation on a kitchen/cooking theme at the cheerful stamp pad challenge blog for the chance at a prize from stitchy bear. i used a very cute stitchy bear digital stamp called "tea time" to make a recipe pocket.
i started with a library card pocket. i covered it in two different papers from the background fairy I adhered those to the pocket and added a border and a heart punched from one of the two papers. i colored the digital stamp with colored pencils and cut it out and added it to the pocket. my final step was adding some words and putting a recipe into the pocket.
play along with us!

b is for brrrrrr bear!
for week two of the "b is for bear" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad i've made another card featuring a bear digital image provided by our challenge sponsor stitchy bear stamps. this bear knows that the best way to deal with a snowy day is to land in a mug of hot cocoa!
i colored the digital image with colored pencils. i had some wonderful wintry papers from bo bunny and i used one snowflake paper and one with ski images. i liked this combination because i was thinking that when i am with people who want to ski, all i want to do is stay inside with the hot cocoa! i decorated this card with ribbon, a sparkly border and a sparkly snowflake.
join our challenge by linking up a creation featuring a bear and you;'ll have the chance to win a prize from stitchy bear stamps. one more week to play! ii it is cold and snowy near you i hope that some hot cocoa is near!

another altered altoids tin
because i've been wanting to make more altoids tins but i can't buy out all the altoids in town i put a sign up on the refrigerator at work asking people to donate their old tins if they did not need them. one person gave me about 10 of them! since she gave me so many i asked what her favorite things were since i said i would give one back to her. she didn't understand i would be altering it so she said chocolate. i tried to embrace the chocolate idea with what i made and then when i gave it back to her i did put some chocolate inside!
i used an image by twisted papers and a cupcake digital from far far hill. the rest -- washi tape, heart sticker, background papers, etc, are stash items although the background paper on the top is from stitchy bear stamps.
i'm linking up to pink saturday today.
she was surprised and delighted to receive this and i still have many more tins to play with!
love to all.

monogram challenge
challenge 102 at the cheerful stamp pad is "monogram" and we are using flowery lovely monograms created by floppy latte and made available to us through our challenge sponsor stitchy bear stamps. as usual a randomly selected challenge winner will get some digital images from stitchy bear.
this is a birthday card for my friend yvette who bemoans the fact that when you shop for letter items they almost never have the letter "y" and she is right because now i always look and i never do find any of the "y" names! so i colored this monogram digital image with colored pencils and then covered my cardstock with primavera paper by itKuPiLLi and added flowers and a lace border to finish.
whether you use a formal monogram or just create something using initials or letters your project will be welcome and eligible for a prize!
enjoy; love to all.
