school days continued!

i'm hosting the school days challenge at tag tuesday and am indulging nostalgic feelings about returning to school! there is something so precious about these special days as children return to classes, even as we understand that sadly, not all children have everything they need. here's hoping children world over can have peace, safety, and happy days of learning in their school days this season.

here are two more tags to inspire your participation in the tag tuesday challenge:

i have images here from gecko galz, tim holtz, and random bits from my stash. i hope you'll join this theme.

school days 2024

at this time of year most children are returning to school after summer break, if they have not already! i'm hosting the school days challenge at tag tuesday and am indulging my nostalgic feelings about returning to school! while i confess i am perfectly happy not having a little one to get ready for school any more, i very much enjoyed it when my own child was school aged.

here are some tags i made to get this started!

i have images here from gecko galz, tim holtz, arthouse whimsy, retired mischief circus, and random bits from my stash. i'll share a couple more tags next week as a reminder to play along! i hope you'll join this theme.

back to school!

for many children summer holidays are over and it is time to return to school.  it is my turn to host the tag tuesday challenge for the next two weeks so given the time of year i chose "back to school" as my theme.  here is my tag:

to create this collaged tag i used multiple images from gecko galz including the school days digital collage sheet, the school days digital stamps, and the chalkboard sentiments collage sheet.  there is some background paper by jodie lee designs and a butterfly from my stash.

may your life be full of learning and may you dwell in possibility!

who loves school and office supplies?

well, honestly i am one of those people who goes gaga at the office supply store.  why are binders and pens and rulers and markers and tapes so fascinating?  school and office supplies is also the challenge prompt at craft hoarder's anonymous.  for this challenge you must use some actual school or office supplies in your creation.  i used a real dictionary page and a paper clip.

the little girl is from the gecko galz "school days" digital stamp set and the "dwell in possibility" sentiment is from the gecko galz "chalkboard sentiments" collage sheet.

enjoy; love to all.

gecko galz inspiration

this month at gecko galz a couple of fabulous new products have been launched and i have made two projects here using some of those brand new products.  first, my "live, love, laugh" card.

my supplies:
gecko galz “chalkboard sentiments” collage sheet image; gecko galz school days digital stamp; designer paper; coordinating ribbon; paper flower; a brad and distress inks.

and here's what i did:

first i re-sized the chalkboard sentiment image i'd chosen in photoshop to make it larger and also digitally created a border around it.  i also re-sized the digital stamp so that it would fit the sentiment.  i printed and cut both out.  on the original digital stamp the children in the stamp were doing math problems but i cut that out so that it would appear they were writing the sentiment on the chalkboard.  i covered the cardstock with designer paper and distressed the edges.  i arranged the sentiment and stamp to my satisfaction and finished the piece by adhering two different colors of ribbon and adding a paper flower and brad in the corner.

now here is my "always believe" card:

my supplies:
gecko galz “chalkboard sentiments” collage sheet image; gecko galz school days digital stamp; designer paper; flower die cut, dragonfly die cut.

and here's what i did:
i covered the cardstock with 2 coordinating designer papers, tearing the piece on top to create a ripped finish.  distressed the edges with distress inks.  in photoshop i re-sized the chalkboard sentiment and added a border around it.  i also re-sized the little girl.  i adhered the sentiment, the flower, the girl and then finally the dragonfly.

i loved making these and hope you will check out the rest of the DT efforts using the beautiful new products at the gecko galz website.

love to all.

school days!

it's a new month and at gecko galz that means a new monthly challenge.  since it is september it makes perfect sense to choose "school days" as our challenge.  if you link up a school days creation featuring at least one image by gecko galz you'll be in the running for a prize pack including a $25 gecko galz shopping spree and a prize pack from rhonda's originals.  here's some inspiration from me for you:

for my "scholar" tag i used the following supplies:
gecko galz school days digital stamps
gecko galz “old world maps” vintage image
designer paper
washi tape
ribbon
distress inks
polyvinyl hole reinforcement

and here's what i did:
first i re-sized the digital stamps to the desired size, printed and fussy cut.  i covered the cardstock tag base with alphabet designer paper then tore a piece of map from the old world maps collage sheet to adhere to the tag base.  i used distress inks around the edges.  i arranged the two digital stamps on the tag as I wanted them and added washi tape, the hole reinforcement and the ribbon.

i love the digital stamp i used here -- it reminds me of some old style cartoon.
link up your school days creation for fun at gecko galz!
i'm also linking this up to the week 34 back to school challenge at scraps of color.

love to all.

school days

lesson number one: bring flowers for teacher...
our prompt at tag tuesday this week is "school days."  hidden in my stash i found i had a tag with some letters and numbers on it already.

i added some strips of paper with script and some school girls from a lunagirl collage sheet called "girls 1929."  these girls are bearing gifts which gave me the idea to focus on gifts for teacher.

enjoy; love to all.
