last week a new two week challenge opened up at tag tuesday -- use your favourite stamp, theme selected by DT member joan. well, i have hundreds of stamps and am hard pressed to identify a favourite. i have always liked the simplicity of this pear stamp by rubber stampede.
the background paper is from the gecko galz curiosity shop digital craft kit and i stamped the pear on a dictionary page after spritzing it with water color inks. there's a little washi tape and enamel dots on here too.
one week to play along! please join us!
love to all.
this blog is to chart my creative evolution with stamping, paper-crafting, mixed media and some other stuff i haven't figured out yet... on the theory that challenging myself to try new things and post them to the "world" will be good for me. and might also be good for others. my blog title is inspired by julia cameron's "the artist's way" and her admonition to fill the well.

sweet pea progressive challenge, august
i'm playing the sweet pea stamps friends and fans (on facebook) progressive challenge again this month. part 1 creations are due by august 9 so i am just making it with a little time to spare. i made a card with a ching chou kuik dragonfly stamp. i bought this a long time ago and it is a rubber stamp -- it is no longer available as a rubber stamp but you can find it as a digital stamp here.
i stamped onto green designer paper and colored the image with pencils. i cut that out and adhered it to additional designer paper from the primavera collection by itKuPiLLi. the dream stamp is by inkadinkado, also stamped onto colored paper. beyond that i added enamel dots and distressed the edges.
i'm eager to see what free stamp we will get for part 2 as a prize for playing in part 1!
have a lovely day; love to all.

altered cards, set 5
i'm continuing with the altered card deck challenge, slowly but surely. this is a challenge to alter an entire deck of cards with weekly tutorials over at claudine's art corner. here is my 5th set:
as always both cards started with a gessoed background. on the "create" card i painted the background with acrylic paints. claudine used a circles stencil. i didn't ave one so i made my own stencil with cardboard and scissors. i didn't have the wonderful little winged boy stamp that claudine had but i had this little star guy from "stamp in the hand" and i gave him wings from a lunagirl collage sheet. i did the doodling with a black ink pen and some with a white poster paint pen. the "create" was from a word stamp set i have and the little dragonfly bard came from eyelet outlet.
the second card is covered with a variety of designer paper scraps and then i distressed it with a couple different distress inks. the lovely photo portrait is from the lunagirl african american vintage images CD. claudine stamped her numbers but i used stickers and then finished with a butterfly brad and my dream stamp.
the rest of the group is a coupled weeks ahead but i am making my way forward with this. i'd always wanted to altered card deck and it is wonderful to get inspiration and new ideas and techniques each week from claudine.
have a wonderful weekend! love to all.

100 proof moo mania
one of the companies that first got me hooked on stamping is 100 proof press. although i've been on their newsletter forever and have "liked" their facebook page this is the first time i entered one of their facebook challenges/giveaways. just under the november 8 deadline wire i present these "moos" in response to the newsletter reader/facebook challenge. i'm linking this up to the "hands" challenge at moo mania challenge blog as well.
this 100 proof press clown stamp is a long time favorite of mine. the background paper and ribbon are from alphastamps. the little flourish is a little something from my stash.
i always felt this little acorn guy wanted to share some powerful wisdom. i was happy to find a suitable proverb (on a clear sticker base) that was just the right size to fit the moo. the background paper is from seven gypsies. the autumn leaves and die cut are from my stash.
last but not least i present to you "the greatest!" muhammed ali. he was a total wordsmith so i was delighted to find some designer paper in my stash that is covered with letters. i wrote "pow" with letter stickers. and of course, he floats like a butterfly but stings like a.....
as you may know, moos are roughly 1.1 x 2.8 inch (as in TINY) creations. so while challenging to make, they really are fun as they force you to wrap your mind around a very different kind of canvas.
all stamps here are by 100 proof press.
love to all.

tag tuesday 60s theme
we're playing swinging sixties at tag tuesday and my thought was to play with the explosion of colors and the feel of flower power. here's what i made:
my papers and embellishments picked up the colors and flowers that were a part of that era. the stamp is by "paper inspirations" and i chose it because it reminded me of face images used in ads at that time. this is also one of my favorite stamps and it was time for me to use it again.
enjoy; love to all.

zodiac ATC
i love love love collage but my first love is stamping and i have drawers and drawers of stamps going unused lately. literally hundreds of stamps.... thus i decided i should use stamping for the next challenge i enter.
so here's a little something i'll be linking up as follows:
wicked wednesday ATC challenge #95 "zodiac" and
scraps of color #30 "black, white and pop of color" challenge.
this ATC honors sagittarius (my son's sign!) with its symbol "the archer." the archer stamp is from "marks of distinction." i stamped it in black, masked it, and then stamped the crackle background (from "sonlight impressions"). i went over everything with a black ink pen to make it pop a bit more and then outlined the borders and added some color with promarkers.
what shall i stamp next?
love to all.

nature, tilted
i'm happily submitting this creation for two challenges:
rogue redhead designs "tilt it baby" sketch challenge, and
fashionable stamping challenges #24 "nature."
both of these challenges require stamping. although i've become enamored of various mixed media techniques and collage, stamping is my first love in card making terms so these challenges were fun for me to do.
one of my favorite rogue redhead designs stamp sets is "floriculture" and the two stamps on this card come from that set. the paper from the stamp and for the "tilts" all came from the paper temptress brown paper kraft package. i used some designer paper in the background and made some dots with a white poster paint pen.
enjoy; love to all.
