the wonderful company sweet pea stamps is closing soon, on november 25. at the sweet pea stamps friend and fans page on facebook we've been doing progressive challenges -- this may be the last one now that the store is closing which is very sad for all of us fans.
the digital stamp in use here is karen middleton's "shiny stuff." i colored it with pencils and added it to background paper "butterfly garden" by gecko galz. the stamps (snowflakes and sentiment) are from hero arts and i created the additional snowflakes with a hole punch.
please come back here on november 25 for the sweet pea stamps tribute blog hop! our last hurrah in celebration of the sweet pea stamps store.
love to all.
this blog is to chart my creative evolution with stamping, paper-crafting, mixed media and some other stuff i haven't figured out yet... on the theory that challenging myself to try new things and post them to the "world" will be good for me. and might also be good for others. my blog title is inspired by julia cameron's "the artist's way" and her admonition to fill the well.

those who don't believe in magic...
believe in magic and you just might find it! for the latest progressive challenge at sweet pea stamps friends and fans on facebook, here is a card featuring a lovely image from artist ching chou kuik, "misty reflections."i printed and colored this digital image with pencils and placed it on cardstock covered with background paper from gecko galz. the sentiment comes from a tim holtz set.
sadly i must tell you that sweet pea stamps, the online store from which i obtained this image, is closing in about a month. if there are digitals or rubber stamps from that company that you've been craving you have only a short time left to shop.
i wish a happy hallowe'en and happy all saint's day to those who acknowledge them, and as always, love to all.

the hop to stop.... domestic violence
thanks to blogger KTFitKitty i discovered a very special blog hop this month -- the hop to stop domestic violence at the damsel of distressed blog. all are invited to create with purple, the color of national domestic violence awareness month. domestic violence has touched my family and sadly 1 in 3 women will experience it in their lifetimes. so it seemed a small thing to participate in this meaningful event.
i used this beautiful digital stamp by helena reis, from sweet pea stamps. i colored the image with colored pencils in shades of violet and violet indigo with some other accent colors. the background paper covered in butterflies is by gecko galz. i wanted to use the phrase "you are enough" and i thought i would have to handwrite it but I hoped I might find something in my stash (at least the three separate words which i could string together) and to my happy surprise (synchronicity alert!) this phrase was already present in a tim holtz ideology "small talk" sticker book i picked up last week on a whim. wonderful.
i'm also entering this truly at the 11th hour in the sweet pea stamps facebook group progressive challenge which closes today.
finally I am linking to the "for a cause" challenge at the eclectic ellapu. please check out the "hop to stop" and help raise awareness to end domestic violence.
love to all.

autumn fantasy
every month at the sweet pea stamps friends and fans facebook page we have a progressive challenge. for part 1 we create something with an image (rubber or digital) from sweet pea stamps. here is what I made for part 1 this round:
the digital image i used is "garden fairy" by artist janna prosvirina. i colored it digitally in photoshop and then added it to digital background paper from my stash. all of it is digital. since autumn is coming in my hemisphere i went with the autumn fantasy theme.
for participating in part 1 we'll be given a free digital image to use for part 2. the winner of part 2 is randomly selected and gets another free image from sweet pea stamps. fun and useful!
i'm linking up to pink saturday which allows "anything goes" and not just pink things!
and i'm linking to the "anything goes" challenge at sweet stamps challenge blog!
have a lovely week. love to all.

to the moon and back
our lovely image for part 2 of the august progressive challenge at the sweet pea stamps friends and fans facebook page is this darling moon by artist courtney mcansh. i made an ATC featuring my little vision of moon love.
the moon is the digital image we were given to work with. i printed it and colored it with pencils. i also printed a face from a collage sheet from the no longer in business dezinaworld company. i added some touches to the dezinaworld face with colored pencils also. the background paper is from gecko galz.
love to all.

sweet pea progressive challenge, august
i'm playing the sweet pea stamps friends and fans (on facebook) progressive challenge again this month. part 1 creations are due by august 9 so i am just making it with a little time to spare. i made a card with a ching chou kuik dragonfly stamp. i bought this a long time ago and it is a rubber stamp -- it is no longer available as a rubber stamp but you can find it as a digital stamp here.
i stamped onto green designer paper and colored the image with pencils. i cut that out and adhered it to additional designer paper from the primavera collection by itKuPiLLi. the dream stamp is by inkadinkado, also stamped onto colored paper. beyond that i added enamel dots and distressed the edges.
i'm eager to see what free stamp we will get for part 2 as a prize for playing in part 1!
have a lovely day; love to all.

sweet pea july progressive challenge part 2
greetings friends. for part 2 of the july progressive challenge at the sweet pea stamps friends and fans facebook page we were given a digital image by sandra caldwell called queen of wonder. she is a queen modeled after the alice in wonderland queen of hearts but she is not stern like that queen.
i can't decide how to interpret the expression on her face. but in search of a sentiment i used this rubber stamp from silver crow creations -- the sentiment was spoken by eeyore from winnie the pooh but i felt it matched the mood of this card! as always i colored the digital image with colored pencils and added a few simple embellishments.
can't wait to see what we get to play with in august! to learn more about the progressive challenges please take a look at the sweet pea stamps facebook page.
love to all.

sweet pea progressive challenge for june, part 2
for part 2 of the june progressive challenge at the sweet pea stamps friends and fans facebook page we were given a digital image by karen middleton called "mushroom fairy." here is my creation:
i colored the mushroom fairy digi with colored pencils and cut it out. the background is 3 different designer papers arranged to my liking. the "one fine day" stamp and prima flowers are from my stash. this piece makes me happy because summer has arrived in my hemisphere. in general i am always too busy with work or responsibilities of various kinds. but i have already been blessed with a few fine days like this fairy is having, days of sweet quiet, contemplation and little to do. this card reminds me of the value of that sweet contemplation.
enjoy! to learn more about the monthly progressive challenges search for the "sweet pea stamps friends and fans" page on facebook.
love to all. and wishing you many fine days!

sweet pea stamps may progressive challenge part 2
the sweet pea stamps facebook group has been hosting progressive challenges each month. you enter by creating something with a current sweet pea stamp then you are given a free digital image to use to enter the second part. we were given the "steampunk old lady" digital stamp by sandra caldwell for part 2. here is my card:
i arranged the digital image with a few digital steampunk images i had (the cogs and such at bottom and the clock at the top) and then printed the whole thing onto digital designer paper by gecko galz and adhered the page to cardstock. i added some simple border embellishments and a compass sticker and distressing around the edges to finish the piece.
if you enjoy using sweet pea stamps and are also on facebook you can ask to join the sweet pea stamps and friends facebook group and then you can play the progressive challenges as well.
have a great weekend, love to all.

angels among us
today i am joining a challenge at quirky crafts challenge blog called "angels among us." i am using a beautiful rubber stamp from sweet pea stamps by ching chou kuik called "shining on."
i stamped this rubber stamp onto designer paper by gecko galz then colored it with pencils. i added the mother teresa quote, rick rack and a punched heart.
i'm also including this piece in the sweet pea stamps facebook progressive challenge. part 1 is "anything goes" as long as you use a sweet pea stamp still available in the company store. entering part one gets you a free digital stamp to play with for part 2 of the challenge. this is lots of fun and i must say i have discovered i really have a lot of sweet pea stamps! it is good to put them to use.
love to all.

spring has sprung! flower power! and sweet pea progressive, round next
"spring has sprung" at one sweet challenge blog and i'm entering this card with a lovely spring-y butterfly lady to the challenge. i'm also linking to the "flower power" challenge at graph'it markers challenge blog.
meanwhile these sweet pea facebook group progressive challenges are showing me just how much rubber i own from sweet pea stamps! this is a beautiful stamp by ching chou kuik which i stamped onto pale floral designer paper by gecko galz (que sera paper pack) and then colored with pencils and adorned simply with embellishments. i'm getting in under the wire for the first part of the progressive challenge.
getting in by april 19 means i'll get a free digital stamp to create with for the second part of the challenge. awesome.
love to all!

e is for elephant at sweet pea stamps
i've been participating in the progressive challenges at the sweet pea stamps facebook page -- if you post a creation with a stamp from sweet peas stamps you are given a free digital image for the second part of the challenge. we were given this fabulous elephant image by courtney mcansh. whenever i have an animal image i love making alphabet ATCs.
i printed the digi and colored it with pencils then outlined it in black pen. i cut that out and attached it to an ATC base covered with sunburst paper by mcmahon five designs. i'd also added flowers and the letter E before adhering the elephant. edges were distressed with ink.
love to all!

the latest sweet pea progressive challenge
i'm loving the progressive challenges that sweet pea stamps is hosting on its facebook page. it is encouraging me to get out my many many sweet peas stamps and play with them. for this third round of progressive challenges i am using a wonderful stamp designed by joanne schemp -- i have this one in rubber form.
i stamped the image on some background paper from gecko galz and also used some gecko galz digital designer paper for the card stock background. i colored the stamped image with pencils, cut it to size and adhered to the card stock with the black and white paper already added. the watery border is actually stickers and the "wishes of joy" stamp is by hero arts,
the way the progressive challenge works is that if you play in part two you are given a free digital stamp which you then use for part 2. then a randomly selected winner playing in part 2 gets some additional goodies. but everyone who plays in part one is a winner because we all get the free digi! i can't wait to see what stamp our players will get for free for part 2 of this progressive challenge.
enjoy; love to all.
