fabric tag/"paper" doll

we have a fun challenge at tag tuesday right now, hosted by lovely DT member wendy: "use fabric on it!"

here is mine:

i nade a doll with component parts from art tea life/one crab apple, moonlight journey (the wings) and background paper by gecko galz. her dress is cut from a fabric scrap from an old discarded blouse. i messed up the placement of her wings but i'm still quite fond of her!

there is one week remaining to play and i hope you will join the challenge!

love to all.

june gecko galz inspiration -- and a freebie!

today is my feature day on the gecko galz blog so i am sharing another manly ATC in celebration of our customer challenge this month, "man o man!"

supplies: pre-cut ATC base; gecko galz "steampunk paper pack;" gecko galz "who's the man" collage sheet; gecko galz "pirates" collage sheet; moonlight journey "vintage wings" (sadly the moonlight journey online shop has closed); tim holtz word stickers; distress inks; die cut border

instructions: i covered the ATC base with papers from the "steampunk paper pack" and distressed the edges.  i cut out a compass from the pirates sheet and adhered it to the base.  i fussy cut the man and the wings and glued them together, then glued them to the base.  the final step was adding some washi tape at the top edge, and then cutting out and adding the border and the words.

how to play along: link up a creation on our theme at the challenge blog, being sure to use at least one item by gecko galz.  you can obtain freebies from gecko galz at the pinterest site, or if you haven't done it already, go to the log and sign up for the email newsletter and you'll get a free collage sheet each month.  the gecko galz etsy shop also has great deals at great prices -- check out the sale section!

as promised, your freebie -- not manly at all but hopefully something fun for you to play with.

and here is what i did with it:

i'm linking to the crafty hazelnut patterned paper challenge as well!

jewelry

the theme this week at tag tuesday is a little unusual -- it is "jewelry." i had some ideas about using an old earring instead of a ribbon on a tag or using an actual earring to enhance a vintage image. but in the end, i more practically decided i'd add a "jewel" to an image i already have.  circus themes are still on my mind thanks to the current customer challenge "life is a circus" at gecko galz blog.  thus my "be-jeweled" clown:

the clown in the foreground is from a collage sheet by alphastamps. an enamel dot serves as his bright shiny earring.  the fussy cut clown man and woman in the background, along with the "au cirque" banner are by gecko galz.  the background paper is from moonlight journey.  there's a bit of paris themed washi tape on there too. and i was delighted to find a little piece of harlequin-design ribbon in my stash to complete this piece.

i like how this turned out.
love to all.

correspondence

our theme at tag tuesday this week is "correspondence."  having recently re-discovered some of my awesome postcard images from french kissed postcards i decided to use products from that company again for this challenge.

i imagine this lady has sent a long letter to her love, who of course will be very delighted to receive it once it arrives upon the wings of the postal service! the background paper on the tag is from my stash but the carte postale and the woman are from french kissed postcards.  the wings are from moonlight journey.  the prima flower, washi tape and brad are from my stash.

enjoy; love to all.

just put another bird on it!

okay, just a few days left to join us at lunagirl moonbeams where we are challenging everyone to "put a bird on it,"  in other words, add some birds to your art!  the randomly chosen winner will get some shopping $$ for the lunagirl store.  for this last bit of  DT inspiration i've got a card with a bit of a gothic feel to it.

the goddess is from the lunagirl "goddess" collage sheet and the owl is from the "owls" collage sheet. the background papers and borders are from moonlight journey.

play along with us!
love to all.

the fantastic and the strange

this clown finds himself in a truly strange landscape of curious individuals-- what should he do? where should he go?

our prompt at tag tuesday this week was"the fantastic and the strange."  while this didn't turn out exactly as i was imagining, it is still certainly strange and a tiny bit fantastic.

images are from a variety of companies including:
alphastamps, dezinaworld, octopode factoryitkupilli, lunagirl, and moonlight journey.

love to all.

numbers challenges

a few of my blog friends have been entering challenges at moo-mania and i decided to give it a go myself.  and quite conveniently the current challenge at moo mania is the same as a current challenge at scraps of color  -- NUMBERS.  so first of all a "moo" is impossibly, ridiculously small -- 1.1 by 2.8 inches.  the smallest canvas i've worked with so far is a 2x2 twinchie.  this really challenged me!  i had to start by wracking my brain as to what creative thing i could do with numbers in a very small space.  here is what i created.

i started with the idea that this creation should be somewhat industrial and i had some border images with small number measurements.  the background paper is actually a blueprint from an airplane design which i tore off an airplane museum brochure.  i then used some of the border pieces, a little steampunk brad from alpha stamps and the eyes were cut from a collage sheet that i am pretty sure came from moonlight journey.  the eyes represent my dubious view on this moo business.

not bad for a first go, eh?

love to all.

red, black, and white

there is a weekly bloggers challenge at scraps of color and i am playing along for the first time this week for the red, black and white challenge.  here is my creation:

the central image is from moonlight journey.  this is the same image i used for my blog button which you can see on my sidebar!  i love this wistful darling lady.  so this is my little red, black and white valentine for the challenge.  "you are my angel." enjoy!

love to all

wistful woman

i've returned to the black americana heritage sheet from moonlight journey.  it has been awhile since i've created with these images.  here is a wistful woman, reflecting on events in her life, choices she's made, and people she holds in her heart.
brown card stock, book page paper, designer paper, lace, flowers, beads.  and a thoughtful, beautiful lady.  i sent this one to my mother.

i'm also happy to enter this in my first ever unruly paper arts challenge --"use lace."

love to all.

a heart full of love

a few more valentine type items to share...
this card could be used for any occasion but i sent it to my aunt for valentine's day.  just like my aunt, this woman clearly has a heart full of love.  the image is from moonlight journey.  awhile back i was doing a lot of cards with images from this black americana set from moonlight journey.  i'm going to get back to that set and to another set i found with vintage images of african americans so stay tuned as i'll be making many more. i'll also link this to the "woman thing link party" at cindy adkins whimsical musings.

here is another tag i made for valentine's day.  featuring a stamp by "ducks in a row."
oh, and here's another card with a vintage child's valentine from twisted papers.

ok, one more then. and this is probably it!  also an image from twisted papers.

this last one went to my DH's dear sweet grandmother and she is as sweet as she can be. oh i love making valentines!  but now it is time for me to get to making twinchies since i'm in a swap and must get mine mailed out the end of this month.  stay tuned for that too!

love to all.

i have a blog button!

earlier today i mentioned the awesome online class by cindy adkins whimsical musings.  in class 2 she talked about the value of having a blog button and she has offered her services to create them.  i wrote her, found her rates supremely reasonable and inside of two hours, voila!  my new blog button!
i'm so thrilled!  i sent her some of my art and this came back.  you might remember this card i made recently; it features an image from moonlight journey from the black americana heritage sheet.

if you'd like to grab my button (please do!) you'll find it on the right hand side of this blog.  i feel like a REAL art blogger now!

love to all.
