my collaged tag is an explosion of colors that give me joy.  the dancer is by lunagirl (purple collage sheet); the butterfly, bird, fence and sunflowers are by tumblefish studio and the background is by marta van eck.

dance fantasy in gold, red and silver

deann of the whimsy asylum and i are continuing with the challenge formerly known as "cheeky challenge," which was created by dezinaworld.  this week's theme is "gold, red and silver."

i thought this was an interesting color combination to work with and at first i was stuck on what to do.  i remembered i had some gorgeous digital background paper from the gecko galz chocolate box paper pack which might offer a foundation for a creation.  from there i scoured my files of dezinaworld images in search of some interesting images in the challenge colors.  i first found the jewels and thought i would work with those but when i checked the dance images, that's when this piece came together.

we're challenged to use quotes or sayings in our tags at tag tuesday this week.  here's mine:

the sentiment is a stamp from silver crow creations.  the moon is from the harvest moon collage sheet by lunagirl and the dancing girl is from the bring on the dancing girls collage sheet also by lunagirl.  she is definitely flexible! the ribbon, prima flower, die cut border and background papers are from my stash.

this is week two of the music and dance challenge at lunagirl moonbeams.  i love this challenge and i've made a tag in the hopes of inspiring your participation in the challenge.  the randomly selected winner gets to shop for glorious goodies at the lunagirl store.

i used some sheet music -- "by the light of the silvery moon" -- from the lunagirl "music 2" collage sheet.  the vintage dancer is from lunagirl's "bring on the dancing girls."  i have some of my own designer paper from my stash, a moon from one of the lunagirl "celestial" collage sheets, a lovely dragon fly brad from eyelet outlet, some molotow pen silver dots doodling, silver stars, distressing, and, you know, all the usual good stuff.

dancing and drawing

so if you visit here much you know i love to dance and i have tried many different kinds of dancing over the years.  i am currently 2 weeks into a lovely and unusual 8 week class called "dancing the bones."  the focus is on exploring dance through anatomy -- thinking about our skeletons, organs, musculature, etc.  and the movements are derived from that exploration.  very experimental and probably sounds a little weird but i confess i love it.  we also take drawing breaks during the 2 hour weekly class.  so today i am sharing a drawing i made of my own skeleton (with apologies for less than ideal photo quality -- it was a pencil drawing):

i know, funny huh?  when i was young i used to hate to think about my skeleton because it freaked me out but now i kind of like thinking about the amazing bones that keep me upright!

and this is a drawing from the second class of how i felt after we'd been dancing for quite awhile, considering the relationship of our skin to the physical space:

okay, so this was a different sort of post but i thought i'd share.  i'm having a great time with it.

celebrating the great gatsby

the new two week theme at lunagirl moonbeams blog is "the great gatsby."  as i prepared my first DT piece i reflected that i neither read the book in high school or college nor have i seen the latest movie -- but i plan to!  i do know that there is more than a fair bit of elegance and excess involved in the story.  i focused my attention on the elegance part.  the main image is from the lunagirl "vintage lovers" CD.  i've layered it on card stock covered with a piece of a music ( a gavotte if you must know) and a doily.  the stamp is by "marks of distinction." and a few additional embellies.
