although i generally prefer to make actual "moos" for the moo mania and more challenges i am linking these two creations for the latest "fall foliage" theme there because my winged ladies are also autumn ladies.  i hope to make a moo later.

it is a new year, use your wings!

this month at lunagirl moonbeams our challenge theme is "babies and children." link your creation featuring babies or children to the blog for the chance to win shopping credit at the lunagirl store.

the darling child here is from lunagirl's african american vintage photo CD. her wings are from another lunagirl collage sheet.  i created the background by covering cardboard with several different papers, lightly gessoing over it, spraying watercolor inks over stencils and finally painting on a light lacquer.  

i added a few more embellishments to finish, including a sentiment from a tim holtz word sticker pack.

for the challenge at lunagirl here are a few tips:  you can share up to 3 entries -- and when you entry includes an image from lunagirl it doubles your chance at winning the drawing!  check the blog frequently as karen of lunagirl offers up freebies often.

but you can also find hundreds of images of babies and children at the lunagirl store including the digital collage sheets used by the DT this month.

use your wings -- gecko galz inspiration

faces always fascinate.  and with wings you take flight!  two of the new gecko galz collage sheets this month are called "face to face" 1 and 2.  i used images from both of those collage sheets for these tags.

the background sheets on both tags are gecko galz also, the "merry and bright" paper pack.  the wings on both are from lunagirl and the sentiment on the tag below is from tim holtz.

although these flying women are not technically sugar plum fairies as a gecko galz challenge blog DT member i do want to remind you of the "sugar plum fairies" challenge at the blog.  you must use at least one gecko galz item to qualify but there are plenty of freebies available on the gecko galz pinterest site.

gothic, week 2

during the dark and mysterious month of October our challenge at lunagirl moonbeams is "gothic." my inspiration piece for you this week is another ATC featuring images from lunagirl collage sheets.

images are from the "gothic backgrounds," "edwardian gothic," "medieval gothic," and "gothic wings" collage sheets.  i also used some silver magic mesh, a fleur de lis and a clock brad.

many angel wings

if you can't get enough of angels and wings then the current challenge at the cheerful stamp pad is definitely for you.  our theme is angel wings and our challenge sponsor is michelle perkett studios, a digital stamp image company.  the randomly selected winner will get some nice digis.

for my DT sample i used another tutorial from the technique junkies newsletter -- called "depth of field."  my angel stamp is from judikins. the cardstock was spritzed with watercolor inks, then torn, distressed and added to a brown cardstock base.  i added a quote which i printed from my computer and distressed; it is a quote i love.  i added a dragonfly sticker and some other flourishes.

i hope you enjoy and might think to join this challenge. to participate you just need to have some wings showing.

angel wings

like so many artists and crafters i love working with angels and with wings so the new two week challenge at cheerful stamp pad definitely makes me happy -- the theme is "angel wings."  our challenge sponsor is the lovely digital stamp company michelle perkett.  a randomly selected winner will get some goodies from the company.

here is my first DT piece for the challenge:

my cardstock was spritzed with watercolor inks.  i tried the "washi weave" tutorial from technique junkies to make for a different kind of background.  my stamp is a favorite one from character constructions.  i printed a relevant quote from my computer then tore it and distressed the edges.  a few other embellies and voila! angel wings.
