this is my third twinchie this month -- a 2x2 inche creation.  my base for the twinchie is by inchie arts.  it is well worth it to buy these beautifully precision cut bases which are perfect for collage or stamping or whatever. the background paper is by jodie lee designs.  the women are from the "just us girls" collage sheet by lunagirl and the butterfly is from the "woodland animals" collage sheet, also by lunagirl.  the word comes from tim holtz and the border is from my stash.

mothers and sisters

altered pages mother's day link up party!

mother's day may have come and gone but the mother's day link up party at altered pages goes until the 15th!  to play you must use items from altered pages and the good folks there were kind enough to offer some free collage sheets to help participants play along.  i made a card using images from both of the freebie sheets.

my collaged piece also includes several digital designer papers and a bingo card from gecko galz.  this was fun to make and I like the results.  i actually started off making an ATC but it ended up being a full sized card.

in honor of mothers

this is week two of the THREE week "mother" challenge at lunagirl moonbeams.  mothers deserve three weeks and more!

this vintage image from lunagirl got me thinking.  this mother looks like she has a tough go of it -- baby twins, she probably works in the fields or something.  no indoor plumbing and all that.  in all seriousness many mothers struggle.  so this tag is in honor of them.  and i did add a little bird to look over her.

our new theme for the next THREE weeks at lunagirl moonbeams is "mother" and since this is the month of mother's day it is good timing to share your creations featuring "mother" for a chance to win shopping credit at the lunagirl store.  here is a little sample to hopefully inspire your participation.

i love this vintage image from lunagirl of a mother and child making music together.  in my childhood, singing and musical instruments were a part of my upbringing so this has a nostalgic feel for me.  i used some music paper from the lunagirl "music" collage sheet (the mother/child image is on the same sheet) and other designer papers from my stash along with a butterfly and ornate lace to finish this piece.

gecko galz inspiration: a mother's love

i've got one last mother's day piece using the  new products from gecko galz this month.

again i've used the "flower power" paper pack, and the "mums the word" and "provance garden" collage sheets.  this time i added a felt lace border at the top, and a stamped image of flowers (by sunday international stamps) which i lightly colored before cutting out and adhering to the bottom of the card.

gecko galz inspiration: loving mother

as i've been playing with the latest images and papers from gecko galz this month i've found a lot of images suitable for mother's day.  here is a creation using some of those items.

the background paper is from the "flower power" paper pack and the images are from "mums the word" and "provance garden" collage sheets.  the only other addition is washi tape and distressing.

gecko galz inspiration -- walking the baby

one of the most exhausting things about parenting is those long nights walking with the wide-awake baby.  at the same time one of the most precious things about parenting is those long nights walking with the wide-awake baby.  though my son is now grown i remember those nights well and i cherish those memories.  when i saw this mother and babe from the gecko galz "mums the word" collage sheet those memories came flooding back!

i created this collage piece using a background paper from the 'flower power" paper pack, the "mum", and two images from the "provance garden" collage sheet (the flower and key).  i punched a heart from an additional sheet of gecko galz paper.  the only other thing i added was a bit of postage style washi tape.   all the gecko galz products are new this month at the gecko galz store.

gecko galz challenges

clearly i'm feeling kind of green...

here are two cards made for 2 of this month's challenges for the gecko galz yahoo group/facebook challenges.  they are both in a similar color palette.

this one is for the "mother's day" challenge.  i really liked this image.  though she does not look like my mother she makes me think of the women in my family all of whom are quite diva-like and know how to wear a hat!  she also has little birds in her flower scarf, an image i adore. i also linked this to the mother's day challenge on the gecko galz blog.  the lovely lady and the word "mother" come from gecko galz collage sheets.  the rest are stash items.

this one is for the "green and white" challenge, also featuring a central image from gecko galz.  i suppose you could say the other one is more truly green and white and this one could also easily be a mother's day card. but this one could also just be a spring card.  and anyway, what does it matter?  i enjoyed making them and they are happy, pretty cards!
