ancestors, guardians, and guides

for my soul's dark imagination: ignus factuus  i'm pretty late (out of town last week) but i wanted to participate in Kym's latest challenge. she introduced us all (well, new to me) to the concept of ignus factuus -- the ghostly balls of white light reportedly seen in bogs or marshes at twilight or night time. and other times and places as well i suspect.

here i've imagined these balls of light as ancestors, guardians, and guides -- this young woman is dealing with some troubling things. and though she cannot see it, she is protected, guided, and loved dearly by these beings who will help her through this challenging time, and who never leave her, good times or bad.

our theme host Aimeslee did some research on the meaning of grunge and stated that grunge "in visual art, it means many things. Street graffiti, scribbling, messy, dark, smokey edges, layers of peeling paint, splatters, water spots, etc." i think i got the basic gist in my piece!

here in this month of love, at kym's my soul's dark imagination we will be exploring themes like tainted love. i got a little carried away creating on the theme of love that didn't quite work out. i hope you'll enjoy my three creations!

doorways

i'm the host at sunday postcard art this week on our theme of "doorway." there is so much one can do with this theme and for sure every picture with a doorway definitely has a story, often a mystery! this is such a compelling topic that i made three samples. i drew inspiration from some retired mischief circus backgrounds (from the altered realities kits) with elaborate doorways.
