black, white, red, and moonglow

for our midweek muse  this week's and last week's challenges (i was out of town last week)

black, white, and red: well, oops, you dropped a few! friends, if you think you're juggling a lot try to balance on a ball while holding cherries in your mouth (against a seizure-inducing black and white landscape no less!)!

moonglow (last week's challenge theme): the whole time i was making this, the classic song ran through my head (link below).

old school classic, rod stewart version!

images are from retired mischief circus kits. (cherries are from retired dezinaworld).

the new two week theme at tag tuesday is black and white with a spot of color.

happy national unicorn day!

did you know that april 9 is national unicorn day? so for the take a word "black and white" theme i chose unicorns to celebrate their special day.

i appreciate that unicorns are typically full of color and glitter but they can be depicted in black and white as well of course.  the background paper is from the gecko galz graphical paper pack and the unicorns and butterflies are by with wild abandon (company seems to be closed, cannot find a link).

love to all, with sparkle and glitter!

moo plus inchie

i'm having fun with small canvases this month.  today i am sharing a "moo" (roughly 1.1 x 2.8 inches) and an inchie (1x1).

my moo is in response to the moo mania challenge blog current challenge to create in black and white.  i cannot recall the source of the black and white image of the woman.  i'll update the post when i can find the collage sheet on my computer!  the rest is simple -- white background and some decorative black border.

the inchie is for the 100 proof press inchie challenge (running until sept 15).  of all the 100 proof stamps i own i could not find anything that was smaller than an inch.  so i used just a portion of a clown stamp from the company.  i covered my inchie base with french script background paper from my stash, used a stencil and spray inks to create the polka dot background, stamped the clown and then bordered it in black ink.

enjoy.  love to all.

black & white, continued

we are in the second week of the joint challenge by lunagirl moonbeams and the cheerful stamp pad -- it is a color challenge: black and white.  link up a creation at both challenge sites for the chance (random selection) to win a prize from lunagirl.  here is my second week inspiration for you.

all vintage images on this card are from the "black and white" collage sheet by lunagirl.
I hope you will join our challenge!

you are invited to a black and white ball!

have you ever been to a black and white ball?  many years ago my aunt hosted a black and white ball.  everyone was asked to dress in formal black and white.  all the decorations were black and white.  even the foods we served were mostly black and white.  it was so much fun!

for the next two weeks lunagirl moonbeams and the cheerful stamp pad together invite you to participate in our black and white color challenge.  enter any new creation you've made, but use black and white as your primary colors.

this is a 4x6 postcard format creation.  it is my invitation to you to join our black and white ball!  all images here are from the "black & white" collage sheet by lunagirl, resized to fit my format and with the words typed in by me.
please join our party!

symmetry in black and white

at tag tuesday our challenge prompt is "symmetry."  i looked up the definition of symmetry and also looked up images representing symmetry.  a very common image that turned up was the butterfly.  thus my tag:

i printed the definition and then cut out and adhered a black and white butterfly from the lunagirl "black and white" collage sheet.

consider this a preview -- starting friday and for the next two weeks the challenge theme at the lunagirl moonbeams blog and the cheerful stamp pad blog will be black and white.  if you link up your new black and white creations you'll have the chance of winning a prize from lunagirl!

love to all.

black and white challenge: week two

this week i am combining challenges with my creation.  it is week two of the "black and white" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad.  meanwhile one of the members over at scraps of color encouraged us to make ATCs in honor of black history month.  so i made a black and white ATC featuring the very talented late great musician duke ellington.

this is a photo real stamp of duke ellington by the stampsmith. the background is sheet music from one of his famous songs, "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing."

if you wish to join the cheerful stamp pad challenge you have one more week.  the challenge sponsor is bugaboo stamps and a randomly selected winner will get some digis from their shop.

love to all.

e is for elephant

for the new two week "color inspired" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad we are focusing on black and white. our challenge sponsor is bugaboo stamps.  for my DT creation i used an elephant silhouette digital stamp from bugaboo.

i loved the patterning in the elephant which made it an ideal centerpiece for the black and white challenge.  i used some complementary designer paper which is actually in dark grey and white placed on black card stock and finished it with the vintage monogram letter "E."  The end result feels like a sort of sophisticated children's alphabet card.

this is a new challenge today so you have two weeks to join in; i hope you will.  the randomly selected winner will get a shopping treat from sponsor bugaboo.

happy week; love to all.
