buttons and bows!

i'm hosting the next wo week challenge for tag tuesday and i've chosen the theme buttons and bows! feel free to use either or both on your tags for the next two weeks. i have two collaged tags and one stamped tag to share.

the first two tags have collaged images from one crab apple and from dreamzetc (both are etsy shops). the third tag includes stamps from viva las vegas stamps and hero arts.

3 Bs at tag tuesday

this week we got to choose which of 3 "b" letter words we would use for our tags at tag tuesday.  the choices were buttons, burlap, birds, bees, blue, brown and butterflies.

i chose bird, butterfly, blue, brown and button -- so basically all the options except for bees and burlap.  the bird and butterfly are from collage sheets by gecko galz -- which gives me the chance to remind you of this month's customer challenge at the gecko galz blog -- "garden of dreams."  link up a creation including at least one gecko galz image for the chance to win gecko galz collage sheets!

but back to my tag -- the papers are by jodie lee and the flowers are from a kaisercraft sticker sheet.  that's a real button from my stash.

what? another lady in red?

yes, but this is the last one (maybe...).  just a few more days to link up a creation featuring the color red for the latest challenge at lunagirl moonbeams.  a randomly selected winner will win shopping credit at the lunagirl store.

this tag is rather tiny at about 1 and a half by 2 and a half inches.  the lady is from the "red hat ladies" collage sheet by lunagirl.  the heart was punched from paper from the primavera series by itKuPiLLi and the background paper is from the valentine sweetheart bitty collection by heather hudson.  the rest is stash,

valentine tag and recycled valentine gift box

one of my favorite digital stamps by cs designs is the expressive heart.  i have two items to share using this stamp which i am linking to two different challenges.  first, our challenge prompt at tag tuesday this week is "valentines."  so first up is my valentine tag.

i printed the "expressive heart" stamp directly onto "love potion #9 digital designer paper by gecko galz.  i colored the image with colored pencils and outlined with black pen.  i covered my tag base with another piece of paper from the same series.  i added several border pieces and some wire ribbon.  voila!

my second piece is for the recycle, re-purpose and reinvent blog challenge which is an anything goes challenge so long as you've recycled or re-purposed something.  i re-purposed an old gift box.  i forgot to photograph the box before i worked with it but as you can see if had a red lid and black base already so it was easy to make this into a valentine creation.  here are a couple other views.

you can see some bracelets inside the box on that last shot!  again i printed the digital image onto some "love potion #9 digital designer paper by gecko galz.  again i colored with pencils and outlined with black pen.  i covered the top of the box with my designed paper and added lace and buttons.  i went around the side of the lid with polka dot washi tape.  voila again!

buttons, etc.

every week at tag tuesday blog members are given a prompt or theme to work from and this week it is beads, buttons and bows.  i wasn't sure if we were required to use all three and in fact i was kind of blanking on what i should make.  i finally decided to just make sure to add as many of those items as i could to whatever design i wanted to make.  therefore in the end i used buttons and a bow.

i worked with images and a design paper from lunagirl vintage images and added some sheet music, buttons, a decorative bow and other goodies.  clearly i'll never tire of adding wings to things.  once you get started it is hard to stop.

getting transparent (with buttons!) at the cheerful stamp pad

the new challenge at the cheerful stamp pad for the next two weeks is "transparent."  i had some clear buttons i've been wanting to use so i thought i'd try using them as connectors for a paper doll dancer.  i decided to make a canvas (my third if you are keeping track...).  this one is 8 x 10.

the paper doll pieces came from (now closed) paula's kits club.  i made the torso with paper i had already.  i used clear buttons on her arms.  i ended up not using them on her legs because of the skirt.  i used additional clear buttons for decoration. it doesn't show up perfectly in the photo i took.  this didn't turn out exactly how i had it in my head but it is a fun piece.

i was blog-hopping around and learned at jack's arty crafty kreations that there is a challenge at dream valley challenges to use buttons however you like.  so i'm entering this piece in that challenge.
