pink saturday thoughts

i have a friend just diagnosed with breast cancer and going through chemo right now.  i've been trying to send pretty things to make her smile.  i thought i'd make her a new card today and decided to link it up to pink saturday. there are always all kinds of goodies linked up there each week so swing by if you can.

the sweet image on this card was a free image some months ago from the fripperies and butterflies blog.  it was one of a group that was offered up for a particular challenge and though i had every intention of participating the deadline got away from me. love the image though.

nature, tilted

i'm happily submitting this creation for two challenges:
rogue redhead designs "tilt it baby" sketch challenge, and
fashionable stamping challenges #24 "nature."

both of these challenges require stamping.  although i've become enamored of various mixed media techniques and collage, stamping is my first love in card making terms so these challenges were fun for me to do. 

one of my favorite rogue redhead designs stamp sets is "floriculture" and the two stamps on this card come from that set.  the paper from the stamp and for the "tilts" all came from the paper temptress brown paper kraft package.  i used some designer paper in the background and made some dots with a white poster paint pen.

numbers!

it is new challenge time at the cheerful stamp pad.  for the next two weeks we're making creations featuring numbers.  the challenge sponsor is dilly beans digital stamps.

the "dunce girl" digi from dilly beans is my central image.  she has been struggling with her math lessons so i found some math flash card images on the web and used those to collage a background for her, atop some designer card stock.  perhaps she'll back off that yummy lolly and get to work!

getting dotty for pink saturday and passion friday

i've been wanting to try the "dotty edges" technique from technique junkies and decided to make something that would work for a couple of linky parties.

i stamped a sweet pea stamps image by ching chou kuik and colored it with pencils and then applied the "dotty edges."  some little embellies finish it off. and i'll be sending it off in the mail to my technique junkies "just one" partner for the month of june.

in the garden # 2

here's my DT contribution to week 2 of the "in the garden" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad.  our challenge sponsor is digi darla designs.

i was inspired to use this digi darla image because it reminded me of an old photo of my DH's lovely daughter (now grown with a husband and daughter of her own).  so while it is not a masculine card, it was a perfect image for this father's day for my DH.  the "happy father's day" image was handwritten since i don't have an appropriate stamp (or if i do i don't know where it is...)

in the garden #1

i know, i know, where have i been?  sick, busy, traveling.  i hate to go ten days without posting but sometimes it goes that way. 

so i'm a little late sharing the latest challenge at the cheerful stamp pad.  the theme is "in the garden" and our challenge sponsor is digi darla designs which means a digi prize for our randomly selected winner!  like most companies they have digis and other art-making goodies so check them out.

i've made a card using a digital image from digi darla colored with pencils.  it is layered on designer paper and brown card stock and embellished with some adhesive lace.  being in the garden should be about simplicity, right?

angels can fly because they take themselves lightly

one more week for the "sweet life" challenge at the cheerful stamppad. our challenge sponsor is stampotique originals so a randomly selected winner will get some goodies from stampotique. the challenge theme is simple -- make whatever you want expressing whatever you think is sweet.  pretty easy!

i made a tag with a variety of sweet designer papers. the central image stamp and the quote stamp are both from stampotique originals.  the technique i used for the stamping is from the technique junkies newsletter and it is called "random coloring." the gentle leaves stamp over the little angel is from stampendous.  i was in need of a some sweet angelic assistance recently and this tag came out of that moment in time!
