i have a blog button!

earlier today i mentioned the awesome online class by cindy adkins whimsical musings.  in class 2 she talked about the value of having a blog button and she has offered her services to create them.  i wrote her, found her rates supremely reasonable and inside of two hours, voila!  my new blog button!

i'm so thrilled!  i sent her some of my art and this came back.  you might remember this card i made recently; it features an image from moonlight journey from the black americana heritage sheet.

2 more magnets

hello friends.  i promised the two other magnets i sent in for the gingersnap creations magnet swap and here they are.  the theme was small sized magnets including encouraging words.

this first image was a free download from magic moonlight free images.  she is one awesome and interesting harpist! the background design paper (the dragonflies) is from TLC creations.  then lots of goodies from the stash. 

the second ATC sized magnet features a vintage image from twisted papers.  along with lots of other goodies of course.  both magnets include a stamped heart.

i'm told that all the magnets for the swap have now been mailed out so soon ill be sharing what i get in the mail.  i feel like a kid waiting to get a birthday card!

2 encouraging magnets...

recently i participated in the magnet swap at gingersnap creations.   many who pop in here are very familiar with gingersnap creations but if not check them out HERE.  there are weekly challenges, lots of excellent tutorials and the occasional swap.  this is my first time participating in a swap, it was to make an art piece on magnetic sheet and to include encouraging words. 

we had to keep to a small size, no more than 4x4 or as small as ATC size which is 2.5 x 3.5.

it was a new experiment for me to work with the magnet sheets but it turned out to be quite fun.  these are two of the magnets i sent in.  both feature images from dezinaworld.  on these two i hand wrote my encouraging words.   i inked the backgrounds sort of free style and then used various laces, flowers and dots.  there is a little stamped heart on the cupid and a stamped fleur de lis on the peacock.  the cupid piece is 4x4 and the peacock piece is ATC size.


a nice thing about making magnets is they do have great potential for little gifts. i'm glad i tried this swap. and i can't wait to see what i'll get in the mail. i'll post my other two magnets soon, as well as the ones i receive once they arrive.

getting transparent (with buttons!) at the cheerful stamp pad

the new challenge at the cheerful stamp pad for the next two weeks is "transparent."  i had some clear buttons i've been wanting to use so i thought i'd try using them as connectors for a paper doll dancer.  i decided to make a canvas (my third if you are keeping track...).  this one is 8 x 10.

the paper doll pieces came from (now closed) paula's kits club.  i made the torso with paper i had already.  i used clear buttons on her arms.  i ended up not using them on her legs because of the skirt.  i used additional clear buttons for decoration. it doesn't show up perfectly in the photo i took.  this didn't turn out exactly how i had it in my head but it is a fun piece.

i was blog-hopping around and learned at jack's arty crafty kreations that there is a challenge at dream valley challenges to use buttons however you like.  so i'm entering this piece in that challenge.
