down the street, my little row of houses

this week for tag tuesday our prompt is "down the street/a row of houses."  here is my tag:

i free drew houses on a variety of pretty papers by gecko galz (the most colorful ones are from the new summer picnic paper pack) and then cut them out.  there are a couple rubber stamps i used as well.  on 3 of the hand drawn houses i used a door and windows from a stamp by rubber moon art stamps.  the sun is by uptown rubber stamps (no longer in business as far as i can tell).  i colored in the yellow with a pro marker.  i added some wispy clouds with a white gel marker and finished this with a paper flower and enamel dot.

a happy little scene i think!
may you have some happy little scenes in your world.
love to all.

april gecko galz inspiration -- showcasing some fabulous papers

every month gecko galz releases new products and these products always include a variety of gorgeous papers. recently i purchased a few prima doll stamps so i decided to do a paper-pieced prima doll showcasing several of the new papers from gecko galz.  my final creation is an easter card.

i used a combination of papers from the new easter parade paper pack and the new flower power paper pack.  i stamped my prima doll "mindy" several times on the different papers.  and then i commenced a whole lot of cutting and gluing! i took some cardstock and cut it to make a card -- about the same size for a legal sized envelope.  i covered that cardstock wiht two more of the gecko galz papers, then added a gecko galz easter image from the easter icons set.  the final step was stamping "happy easter" on more of the gecko galz paper and adding that to the card.  my stamp is from savvy stamps.

please be sure to visit the gecko galz blog to see many more of the design team creations and also to participate in the monthly customer challenge (the theme is "easter time") for a chance to win a gecko galz collage sheet. if you are making things for easter and you're using at least one item from gecko galz then you can join the challenge.  remember that if you sign up for the monthly newsletter (sign up at the blog) you'll get monthly freebies so you'll always have gecko galz images to work with!

love to all.

prima doll runway challenge

in one of my art communities, scraps of color, a member challenged us to a "prima doll runway challenge" -- to dress up some prima dolls for runway fun.  well i didn't even know what a prima doll was but i found out and i ordered two.  once the first came i got to work right away.  here is what i made first.

i really love how this came out.  i stamped the stamp on a cardboard base and cut those out.  i also stamped the doll multiple times on a variety of designer papers from gecko galz and from heather hudsons' bitty hearts collection.  i then did a lot of cutting and gluing and this was the result.

i have another doll coming in the mail so expect more fun dress up dolls!

love to all.

home

i love it when 2 challenges converge at the same time on an interesting theme.  this week at tag tuesday our challenge prompt is to make a tag on the theme of home/shelter and at take a word the theme is "home."
i found a very simple and basic template to create a house and used some paper piecing and stamping to make my creation.

i really enjoyed making this.  in addition to using some different designer papers i also used some cool border pieces and the ladies in the windows are from stamps by inkadinkado.  they are the pensive sister and the fun-loving sister and i think it would be fun to visit them.  there is room for all in this little house.

i recently learned about the monthly anything goes patterned paper challenge at crafty hazelnuts patterned paper blog and i'm linking to that since my house is completely covered in different papers.

have a lovely week; love to all.
