this blog is to chart my creative evolution with stamping, paper-crafting, mixed media and some other stuff i haven't figured out yet... on the theory that challenging myself to try new things and post them to the "world" will be good for me. and might also be good for others. my blog title is inspired by julia cameron's "the artist's way" and her admonition to fill the well.

zentangles are great fun to make, but there are also zentangle images out in the world to play with too. for our new two week challenge at the cheerful stamp pad we are working with the zentangle art of courtney mcansh, designer of digital images at sweet pea stamps. i've taken courtney's elephant zentangle and made two alphabet ATCs.
with both ATCs i printed the digital image and colored with colored pencils. on the first i used a background paper from itKuPiLLi and added a flower and washi tape. the word elephant was stamped with my mason row pegz.
the second ATC i actually posted previously as it was a part of a challenge at the sweet pea stamps facebook page. the background sunburst paper is from mcmahon five designs and i added flowers and a letter. i decided to share both ATCs today because i like the contrast as they were each done slightly differently.

this week at tag tuesday our challenge prompt is signs of the zodiac. my sign is aquarius, the water bearer, and i wanted to work with my own sign. i'm on the lunagirl moonbeams design team so i started scouring my collage sheets for women with water vessels. when i couldn't find anything right away karen at lunagirl hooked me up with a couple images.
this very tag was the first one i made. i love this beautiful little girl. i grabbed some designer paper from my stash for the background (notice the cranes in water on the paper), stamped some waves (the aquarius symbol!) with a meer image stamp and placed her on the tag -- after first adding a compass cut from the lunagirl "wind and roses" collage sheet.
for this second tag i covered the tag base with designer paper and then cut out and used an image from an old "antique globes and maps" address book i have stashed -- the map here is called "sky chart." i cut a planet from the lunagirl "celestial" collage sheet and added this gorgeous lunagirl water-bearing goddess.
as you can see i went hog-wild so to speak and i actually made a third tag. i discovered that i did have a water bearing image on an old bathing beauties collage sheet from lunagirl that was in my stash and so she became the focus of my third tag.
the background paper is actually designer paper created by karen at lunagirl. i stamped the word "water" with mason row pegz on an additional piece of designer paper and added that. the sun was carefully cut from the "wind and roses" collage sheet and i added the goddess last.
we aquarians are known for being visionary, artistic souls. the water we carry is a blessing for the earth, i hope you've enjoyed this visual voyage through my astrological sign.

it is week two of the "flapper" challenge at lunagirl moonbeams. this week i have a flapper from the lunagirl "flappers two" collage sheet to spark your interest in our challenge.
my background paper is some cool paper i tore out of the inside of an envelope that once contained a birthday card. i used the vintage image, some washi tape, a prima flower and i stamped the word "sassy" with my mason row pegz.

this tag is for the "birds and bees" challenge at the gecko galz papercrafting facebook page and for the "spring" challenge at take a word challenge blog. the main image is by gecko galz with washi tape, flower and ribbon added from my stash. the letter "b" was stamped.
for my card i used both an image and background papers from gecko galz. i'm entering this piece in the "green and gold" challenge at the gecko galz papercrafting facebook group and also for the "go green" challenge at eclectic ellapu. the letters on both pieces are stamped from a new acquisition of mine -- clickable symbols and letters stamp set called pegz by mason row. you can arrange letters and symbols however you want and click them together to stamp your words and phrases. this is my first time playing with the new sets.
