did you ever have a challenge in mind that you wanted to participate in and by the time you made your piece the challenge was over? oh so sad when that happens! i created this ATC for the art with no boundaries summer skies challenge but i misremembered the contest deadline. well lucky me, there are always challenges all over blogland and i found one i could join: "no rules" at simon says stamp and show. this is a great challenge blog and i'm happy to have found it; this is my first time joining the fun over there.
the beautiful digi is from cs designs. as usual i've colored with pencils. the background started with some black card stock cut to ATC size (2.5 x 3.5). i covered that with some blue designer paper covered in stars and swirls. i covered that with some sheer shimmery silver ribbon. i added a moon charm and an abalone button to finish filling out my night time summer sky.
p.s. aha. lucky me. i totally forgot that there is always an "anything goes" challenge over at art with no boundaries so i'm entering it after all! yippee! i love cs designs!
love to all.
this blog is to chart my creative evolution with stamping, paper-crafting, mixed media and some other stuff i haven't figured out yet... on the theory that challenging myself to try new things and post them to the "world" will be good for me. and might also be good for others. my blog title is inspired by julia cameron's "the artist's way" and her admonition to fill the well.

silhouette #2
here's a little more inspiration for you to consider joining the "silhouette" challenge at cheerful stamp pad. our challenge sponsor is floppy latte designs. a randomly selected winner will get a $10 gift certificate to the floppy latte shop.
i've layered lots of pretty papers, used my inkadinkado "dream" stamp and just generally had fun with this wonderful floppy latte fairy image. i'm their newest fan!
enjoy; love to all.

thrinchie sneak peek!
i just participated in the unruly paper arts thrinchie swap. a thrinchie is a 3 inch by 3 inch creation and our designated theme was "garden party." we had to make 6 thrinchies and get them to our swap hostess by the 7th. i got mine out on time (hooray!) and thought i would share a sneak peek of one of the thrinchies i sent off.
after signing up i wondered -- how do you represent a garden party on a 3x3 art space? i was picturing people and food and flowers and all kinds of stuff and i got a little stuck. then i thought, no one loves a garden or a party more than a fairy. and when i think fairy images i think dezinaworld. so i turned to my dezinaworld fairy collage sheets and made all 6 of my thrinchies with the fairies from the sheets. of course there are lots of other papers and embellies here but that's the main story! i'll be posting more of these creations in the coming days and of course will post the 6 that i receive in the mail once i get them.
i'm also linking this up to pink saturday. check out the fun over there! i also encourage you to look at the amazing ideas, art work, tutorials and challenges over at unruly paper arts as you will find it most inspiring.
have a wonderful weekend; love to all!

a little zombie travels the world...
it is week two for the "numbers" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad. if you'd like to play along, think of a way to incorporate numbers into anything you might wish to create. the challenge sponsor is dilly beans digi stamps a company with plenty of fun and quirky mages -- the randomly selected winner will get some digis and word to the wise -- right now there is very little competition for the prize as there are only a few entries so far...
i used a dilly beans image that looks like a charming zombie to me! i started with card stock on which i randomly placed circles with my ink dots. i put a border on it (from k and company) and added a french game card piece that i got long ago from the now defunct paula's kits club. i don't know what the game is but it involves maps and the sections are numbered (thus my numbers!). it is very pretty whatever it is. i colored the digi and cut it out and placed it on the card, adding a little dragonfly for balance and interest.
come join the fun if you can!
love to all.
