let freedom ring

today in the US we honor dr. martin luther king, jr. with commemorations, acts of service, and re-dedication to freedom, equity and justice for all.

there are so many wise words spoken by this man -- they fill many books.  these are just a few of them.

these digital collages i made include images from open clip art, tumblefish studios and unknown sources.

sweet child

quite fittingly as we start a new year, at lunagirl moonbeams our challenge theme is babies and children.  you are invited to link a creation featuring babies or children for the chance to win shopping credit at the lunagirl store.

this child reading her book is from the african american vintage images CD at lunagirl.  she is on another of the elaborate backgrounds i made using a variety of papers, gessoing, stenciling and lacquering.  i added a variety of embellishments.

i liked using this girl today because it is martin luther king jr.'s birthday.  MLK said: "the function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.  intelligence plus character -- that is the true goal of education."

i hope you will play along.  for the challenge at lunagirl here are a few tips:  you can share up to 3 entries -- and when you entry includes an image from lunagirl it doubles your chance at winning the drawing!  check the blog frequently as karen of lunagirl offers up freebies often.

but you can also find hundreds of images of babies and children at the lunagirl store including the digital collage sheets used by the DT this month.

meet me in paris -- an altoids tin

behold, my first attempt at an altered altoids tin.  the details are rather wretched i'm afraid -- including the fact that due to a bit of a mishap i can't actually close the thing!  but the cover collage is nice. and this is my way of reminding you all of the "meet me in paris" challenge over at lunagirl moonbeams.  other than the polka-dotted background DP, all images here are from lunagirl.  the challenge goes until sunday the 26th and the randomly selected winner will get credit for goods at the wonderful lunagirl shop.

today being the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. let me also share a favorite MLK quote: "i have decided to stick with love.  hate is too great a burden to bear." wise and true words to consider and live by, says i.

love to all.
